Seriously the Protoss are so similar to us that they even have brachioradialis musclulature? Cmon Blizzard!

Now, I'm usually not one for criticising those who draw technically better than me, but he largely copied human anatomy with very little alteration (I'm particularly not a big fan of the "heel" and the general leg structure given, something closer to animal anatomy would've been better).
Although, they may have had realistic animation considerations being the main reason for the alterations (but then, Zeratul in the bits we've seen still moves in a way humans would've been incapable of, so it's a questionable reason).

I totally get what you mean. That guy has a bellybutton.
Re: Idea: Making the Bengalass critter look like the Thanator
Comming back to the Thanator, I really liked that creature but I wasn't a big fan of how most of the creatures had an extra set of legs/arms. It seemed awkward and strange (but mostly just overused) that they had an extra pair of limbs shiva style. It looked like it shouldn't work well at all and I always wondered what the purpose was for the animal to have that extra limbs besides to look different. The Bengalass is cool but I would like to see some more Auir creatures too. Seems there are some dangerous critters on Auir according to the protoss in the book "Shadow Hunters."
I know that the argument over originality has been going on in this thread and it seems to have fizzled out. At the risk of bringing it back I'm just gonna quote someone else and then leave it be. :P

LOL I love that quote. Six legs are actually part of one of the most succesful body plans on this planet (although there are some differences).

I didnt know whether to laugh or cry at this comment. I guess that solves the question of how protoss are born.

The six legs of an insect are extremely different in their design when compared to 4 legged mammals. It just look sort of awkward to place two shoulder structure muscle groups so close together, not that it couldn't work. I just wasn't a huge fan of the design. It just looked like it should be clumsy. But hey it seemed to work pretty well animation wise it didn't look ugly or anything. It moved natural enough so I guess that is what counts in the end. Maybe thats what they were going for though. Something that wasn't natural looking at all to move very naturally. In that respect they pulled it off wonderfully.

Well, we can immediately strike "overused" from the list.
One might as well say that four arms and a vertebrae is overused in earth mammals.
I thought that so many different species on Pandora having six legs was a nice touch, giving a feel that they were all descended from a common ancestor, like humans, apes, rodents, and horses are supposed to be.
As for the Na'vi? Eh, they're the duck-billed platypuses of Pandora.
I thought it worked well on the Thanator and the Pandorhinos, but when the horses showed up...
"Yeah... right.."

Still I feel that the horses are the ones with the best musclular reference.

The nerve cord link thing was too much for me. I mean how do all those different species evolve the same usb cable? It just doesn't make sense even with the whole god-tree explanation.

Your assuming they evolved seperatly. Avatar follows the Gaia hypothesis.
Re: Idea: Making the Bengalass critter look like the Thanator
The fact they all have the same USB cable attachment is too convenient. It was a plot device that was made too literal.
