The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
"...has been busy working on some new ramp concepts so they can be tailored for each mission in the Terran single player campaign."
At least according to Facebook.
We're getting map specific ramps now.
At such rate we'll have Marines with unique armour decals by the time the game is out. :D

Wow, so we've got updated tree scripts and tile-specific ramps...and yet the Thor remains.

Indeed.
Thor in Campaign = OK
Thor in MP = Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
I'd imagine because of how intensive the Beta process will be on units and abilities, it'd be best to actually not change the artwork until it were made certain that they wouldn't change again. Mostly because death animations are a pain to make. And then remake...
But yeah, definitely the units need at-least one more pass before the game's released. Gotta make it last for 10 years, you know?

Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
this is the most boring SC2 news has ever been.
"o wow treez! ZOMG!"
damn you blizzard, Beta or Bust right now.

Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
Trees and ramps and oh my!
-
Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
The bad thing, is that we don't even get to see the damn ramps! It's worse than the trees! :(
-
Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
As a Tree and Ramp enthusiast, I highly anticipate the release of any media pertaining to these new ramps.
I hope the Collector's Edition can come with some Tree and Ramp models so I can set up a diorama.
-
Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
This isn't new ramp 'art' they're talking about, it's now ramp 'concepts', which probably means we'll get some retractable ramps or something.
-
Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
I wantz destructible bridges. Force air gameplay.
-
Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
I'd love to see more destructible stuff, especially bridges.
I'd also like to see switchable stuff, like bridges you can turn on and off.

Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
20 Interwebz says thell be some sort of barrier switchs in the single player that can be easily ported into a map.

Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
i want the stupid buggies out of the terran main city. I want to see some flying vehicles.
Remove the damn buggy hellion design.

Agreed. We need the flying vehicles that were seen in the inauguration cinematic. Buggies are fine for Mar Sara or something.

Anyone remember that thread at blizzforums? We really need to get this stuff... Like why the hell isnt this talked about by them? If so many people bring this up constantly, why isnt it something they want to do...? Seems like a slam dunk, absolute good thing to me :/

Yes, this definitely. It would change the up the game so much it'd be awesome. Does anyone know if moving platforms and stuff are things that can't be done due to the way the game is hardcoded or is it possible? I have no idea about such stuff. I think it'd be great to have constantly shifting battlefields like your main is here and 10 minutes later it's on the other side of the map.

They should also add the Protoss camouflage (or corrosion or whatever it was in SC1) to the Aiur units. Also flying cars.
That said, retractable ramps and destructible doodads (bridges <3) would be very fun. Even just for UMS, because I'm sure someone would complain if such a thing were in a melee map.

Actually, I think we were both inspired by a rather earlier design.

Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
Oh god new ramps, this is exciting. Finally some cool info. I hope they work also on the grass, rocks designs, sand molecules, maybe we can see the air flowing during the game.

Their last status update also says they're working on giving the Void Ray and the Corruptor more defined roles.
At first I've read "defensive roles" and almost thought it worth a separate thread, but luckily thought better of it.

That is extremely disheartening. Both units should be front line offensive powerhouses.

No, they just said "more defined roles". For all we know, they MAY be making them even more offense oriented.

Ah sorry, read that wrong.
-
Re: The StarCraft II Art Team is done with trees and...
Yea, they should at least be working on the next game instead of this waste of time.

That's strange. I don't know about the Corruptor, but how much more specific can the Void Ray get?
