SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
With the StarCraft II Beta set to be released sometime in 2010, SCLegacy is preparing to provide audio commentaries and shoutcasts for StarCraft II. In preparation for this, I have posted a shoutcast for battle report four on YouTube.
As we are looking to provide quality shoutcasts, any constructive criticism is appreciated.
The battle report is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXoqpoFMcoY

Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
Man you sound nervous. Good effort though. I think you need less monotone, more inflection.
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
Maybe I am nervous. Normally I'm not though, I don't have that much experience to draw on so I'm at a loss for words sometimes. After enough practice though the quailty and pace will be more exciting. I have no experience to draw from in terms of strategy.
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
I've considered trying shoutcast myself, I think I'd do a good job, but I'm too lazy to take it seriously heh.
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
Did I hear "as the crow flies" at the 6:48 mark? What was that about?

I dunno, that's how his commentaries normally sound. :p

"As the crow flies, these two units are very, very close to each other."
Shouldn't it have been something like the medivac is flying as the crow flies, or moving as the crow flies? something to that effect? or the distance is as the crow flies?
I guess i want to understand what a straight line in a distance has to do with units being close to each other, and which two units hes referring to?
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
It's too bad you can't separate out the unit sounds from Blizzard's voices. But I guess you'll be able to shoutcast your own SC II games once beta hits.
I'm glad to see you're explaining things. (There's a lot of BMWC at Teamliquid about how the Battle Reports aren't for progamers. Because they're ... not for progamers.)
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
"This is a little bit interesting.."
interesting choice of words lol, good job though.
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
Subscribed... looking forward to your work during the beta.
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
We feel that you know what will happen next since you've watched the BR a couple of time XD. But you do a very good job, more descriptions, strategies and less «terrible terrible damage».
Keep up the good work!

Eventually you will get much better. You will find a point where you enjoy making a comment.
Your own phrases and emotions will eventually come with time. Keep the good work. I would suggest random comments over replays you have never seen before. This way you may test your abilities to create comments effectively.
Edit: try to avoid the description of units but don't forget about them completely. The narration over events and possible strategies cause/effect is the most important in this kind of comments.

I agree, its hard to get excited about a replay that I've watched a number of times and lets face it I'm sure we've all watched every Battle Report three times trying to get more information. I've been doing shoutcasts/commentaries for a little while now. Please feel free to check out the rest of my videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/BlizShouter and offer any additional comments. I know most of the videos are of WC3 but the experience and feedback would still help.

Out of curiosity, how many people have applied to cast for SC:L? I see this page is still up.
Re: SCLegacy Battle Report 4 Sample Shoutcast
I tried this once with and it worked pretty well, but I just feel so weird shoutcasting in a room by myself -_-
I'd highly recommend you try this with a friend you're real chill with. The lack of emotion and nervousness fade away completely, the only thing you need to consciously avoid is going too far and just goofing off. Make sure its relatively clear whos going to be speaking and when. Its a lot better way to start then just trying to comment by yourself. Even shoutcasting with a friend in the room works.
