Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
You would consider that, but with the increased armor and the fact that 5-15 scvs repairing it can extend it well enough for a return army isn't a poor situation. It also effectively negates non-upgraded basic units (Marine/Zergling/Zealots) due to it's additional armor. (I understand that others can lift off, but lifting off won't do anything about removing it as well)
Even against a set of void rays, 2 additional armor can easily add seconds to a repaired CC's lifespan, which can be vital in terms of reaction time and could allow it to actually defend itself or significantly reduce the force by the time you get there to defend it.
Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
The Protoss made the mistake of warping in a stalker to kill the ghost instead of warping in a DT. 2 slashes wouldve killed the Ghost, even with Medivac support.
In this game, Yeon Ho Lee made a bunch of mistakes including bad macro and poor unit choices, except for the stalker/zealot/HT combo.
Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
I kind of feel that the lack of a reaver is hurting Protoss in terms of mass infantry counter. Psi storm worked wonders sometimes, but the times that colossus were used they seemed to go down pretty quick and couldn't take down many marauders. It seems like they need a heavy hitting unit that deals a lot of damage very quickly.
But then again in all our BR's, we've never really seen DT or Archons used in battle yet.

For some odd reason, the Protoss players keep getting their Colossi into the line of fire like noobs. The have range 6 base, and 9 with upgrades. They can move over cliffs. Colossi should rarely be hit if you're using them right. They're glass cannons dammit.
Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
Didn't they get the Immortal's hardened shields ability as an upgrade? I didn't think they were that flimsy.
Granted they were against a force of marauders and Thors, their supposed counter. I think this unit needs a mechanic that lets them endure small hits, opposite of the Immortal. Something like increased shield/natural armor.

Where the heck do you get your info?
Colossi cost 300 min, 200 gas. They have 200 HP, 150 SP. They deal 23(x2) damage at base range 6.
Only Immortals have hardened shield, and it does not require research.
Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
I don't get why everyone says make immortals. Maraunders do a whole 12 damagex2. The immortal would have stopped a whole 4 damage. Granted it would have stopped 40 damage from thor's, but their were only 4 thors that could have been EASILY phase shifted by templars. Rather then making stalkers, he should have made a more zealot heavy force, or teched to air. That being said, I think air would have been too hard a switch for the toss to pull off, while the terran could have easily countered it. His best course of action probably would have been to make more templars, fuse some into archons, as well as zealots, and maybe even dark templar. Archons would have decimated the marauders seconds, while the thors could be cleaned up after phase shift was over.
Why the hell he made colossus's (which get raped by thor's ability), and mass stalkers (which get raped by marauder damage) while skimping on templar is really beyond me.
Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
Really, I thought it did require research now? Still, I don't keep up at the cutting edge of this stuff, so I might have missed it.

Yeah, i checked Marauder's damage and seems to be 6 (+6 vs Armored) x2 now, but they kept the insane shooting speed they always had. I think than the Marauder should have a stronger but slower attack. That would not only make sense for the unit's visuals, but would give the Immortal a more reasonable position against the Terrans. Hardly anyone would build them if you can counter by using any AtG unit, Marauders, Marines, Reapers, probably even Vikings (14 dmg fast attack). While they will be effective vs Tanks and Thors only. Vs the Zerg, they look even worse.
Wait! the Archon has a 25 (+10 vs Bio) x2 attack??? Either sc2armory or Blizzard is going crazy????

Wikia has 2 attacks as well, I think it's Blizzard this time, or one Armoury Staffer who's got it wrong, and changed it in both places.
