Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
Was it just me, or did the Protoss Player completely lack any real "siege" units that were strong against armor or buildings? Like DT or warprays?
I mean, I know Thors are supposed to be strong against air, but I feel like a few warp rays on offense and psi-storms on defense would have wreaked havoc in that game.

You are correct, sir.

The old PF used to have a lot more hit points, I think an extra 500. I don't know if it makes much difference; it's hard to kill no matter which method Blizzard uses.
Given its role, I think it needs to be tough. But of course, it's all opinion.
Re: Planetary Fortress : Overpowered based on BR4?
HP vs. Armor is a question of durable against what. Its pretty much what differentiates a 100 damage shot with 1 sec cooldown against a 50 damage one with 0,5 sec. Or 60 damage against 2x30.
Santrega, if that PF was supposed to fall - why would you build a PF in the first place? Surviving is pretty much itīs point.

I imagine that immortals (with hardened shields) would also be an excellent counter to the fortress.

This.
Also realize that when deciding to build a PF, you sacrifice not only detection/surveillance/resource boost, but also mobility. Meaning escape is no longer an option once constructed.
Not only that but once an expansion has been mined out and it's purpose has been served, it basically becomes dead weight---unless a PF can be salvaged.

It cannot.

I may lose out on scans and MULEs but I will always, always, make a PF at those high yield expansions.

And I will always destroy them in 10 seconds with Void Rays.

Don't worry, you can destroy an OCC in 5 seconds! And you can even laugh at it while it tries to fly away before it blows up into tiny bits.
