Re: What Are You Watching?
I usually hate watching TV shows unless they have a defined beginning, middle and end. Mini-series are the best. But for some reason I started Sword Art Online. It's clearly a .hack//sign derivative, and not nearly as good, but it's still juuuust interesting enough to make me keep watching.

Did you get to the Alfheim part yet?
Re: What Are You Watching?
No, episode 9: The Blue Eyed Demon. I was hoping for this to be a little more serious than it is.
EDIT Sooo I think I finished the first story arc, and I'm done with it. The anime tropes and cliches are just too much for me to handle. Also, it's quite obvious where's things are going between Kirito and his "sister." Ugh. God, I need me some quality viewing.

Re: What Are You Watching?
Why must anime always ruin a good television/movie discussion? Perfectly good opportunity to discuss the complex, philosophical of numerous shows but noooooooo, gotta indulge in that borderline pedophilia. Guess I'll go back to sffworld.

Nothing I posted has any semblance of pedophilia. Well, except Elfen Lied, but its a flashback plot point for a main character. There's also some age confusion in Planetes, but nothing actually happens.
Death Note and Psycho-Pass are up there with The Wire for crime TV. Planetes is one the most realistic portrayals of space colonization, ever. Mushishi is worthy of David Attenborough. Steins;Gate is the most cohesive time travel story I've ever seen.
Hell, even Elfen Lied has more "complex philosophical stuff" than most other things I've ever seen, and its completely FUBAR.
Re: What Are You Watching?
I'm on Psycho Pass right now aaaand shit just got real. Boom. Wow.

You're welcome. :D
Re: What Are You Watching?
I don't know...to me, Sword Art Online is basically symbolic of all anime. Part action, part violence, part everyday activity, part total perversion...if anime were a city, then SAO would be the welcoming signpost.
Is anyone else as over Doctor Who as I am? It feels like it's just going through the motions at this point.

I'd say that's accurate, except its not well done. If SAO was a city, it'd be Detroit. Utterly bankrupt.
On the other hand, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan, the true symbol of the potential of anime, would be like, San Francisco. Completely over the top.

Despite some deaths, its still a kid's show. Just enjoy the big ball of wibbily-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff and relax.
