Turalyon, you don't know how the Khala functioned at the VERY beginning.
You also have to remember one important thing: the Protoss tribes had to EMBRACE the Khala.
In other words, BEFORE Khas arrived at the Protoss worlds, those Protoss people had NOT YET EMBRACED IT. And without that embrace, they were not connected to the Khala's "sea of knowledge".

Figured I didn't really need to wonder since one can simply extrapolate from the manual that the "Khala" are really just additions in the form of doctrinal rules to the main (re)discovery of their communal psionic link. To me, it's one of those mythology/lore things that really didn't need any more explanation.

Well it's not that. The Khala DID change over time. You can't say with 100% certainty that the way the Khala functioned at the very beginning was still the exact same way it functioned by the time of SC1.
