Re: Brazil nightclub fire
Rio Grande do Sul is the state my dad is from. They say "tche" all the time as an interjection, hence my username.
I had a flirt with a girl from Santa Maria once. I got very depressed when I heard of the fire. Then I figured most of victims were Agronomy students, and she studied something else. I felt... relieved? But shoud I?
Horrendous people say horrendous things. They say the president is faking her tears. They say people died because they were godless. And an atheist organization used the event as propaganda to show that there is no God.
Very sad. I'm 25; I could be there. It could have happened to places I go. It can happen to places my son will go so 20 years in the future.
Some hundreds of people could had been saved if the security didn't hold the doors por 90 seconds. A guy is going to die because after he got safe, he got a maul and helped to try to break the bathroom's wall to save more people - he inhaled hot smoke and got sick a day later. As the firemen entered the ruins, they heard dozens of cellphones ringing from the corpses. A cellphone had 141 lost calls of "Mãe".
Calling your child 141 times. That's a lot of hope or a lot of despair, probably and painfully both.
Re: Brazil nightclub fire
Heard about it on the news. Definately a tragedy, but that people could use it to push an agenda...
Heartfelt sympathy to any and all affected.
Re: Brazil nightclub fire
Shit happens. None of it matters, none of us matter. We flicker, then we're gone. Learn from it, that's all you can do. What you learn, is up to you.
Re: Brazil nightclub fire
I've actually had close friends die and I'm less pessimistic about the world than you. In fact, every day is absolutely euphoric. Speaks volumes about the simple act of living healthy.

I've had many friends die, more than I can count off the top of my head. Assume much?
Re: Brazil nightclub fire
Not in the way mine did. People don't die in Canada, they just peacefully cease to be.
(I'm trying to be euphemistic here, go along with it.)

I think I'd rather not. I've lost several friends to gang and gun violence brought up from the US. Our peace is frequently disrupted.

No you haven't you just think you have.
Also, it doesn't come from the US. It comes from Mexico and Africa.
Regardless, this is about the nightclub tragedy, not us.
