Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
I know this maybe isn't the right place to post this, but just finished watching the game between TLO and Bling(known British Protoss, I think the best player from England).
http://it.twitch.tv/liquidtlo/b/362634097
It is the first game in the video, great great usage of the Swarm Hosts, and exactly what I was talking about, when people learn to use them, they have potential to be really strong units. ;)

Wow! That was ridiculously smart! Toss probably should have stopped collo production and start working on some tempest though.

Indeed he did get steamrolled. But it brings me to an interesting question. I had Battle Hellions in the front of that engagement and they got destroyed very quickly some of them never even got a shot off - image in if it was favorable positioning of the Zerg! So some of my Battle Hellions you can see are in the back and they survive the first fight to later run in front where they can be better utilized vs the smaller armies that try to push the remainder of my army back.
So should Battle Hellions not be put into a big engagement like this and just saved for the cleanup forces that come later?
And yes all the screenshots are from games I play. I even make sure to use something new everyday, even if I'm only going to play one game so that I can use it for the screenshot.

Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
hellbats dont hold up too well against armored units, but considering they died soaking dmg instead of your marines thats a good thing
-
Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
My opinion is, crushing your enemy is good, crushing him harder is better. The more units you have in a fight, the faster he dies, and the less damage you take.

To be honest, I disagree. If anything, Void Rays could work. I mean, Void Rays and Colossi are the units that are good against Swarm Hosts, Tempests are built too long, need more buildings and cost a lot more. They also don't do anything to Locusts, and are killing Swarm Hosts slower than both of these, since Swarm Hosts can be healed/relocated. I think that it was good that he was getting the Colossi, it was just that(I think) Bling didn't expect this, he was all over the place and was on two bases for a very long time, while trading inefficiently because he was trading units for Locusts(Yes, he did manage to kill Swarm Hosts, but it wasn't enough).
And btw guys, we were talking about the tourneys, first MLG HOTS tournament will be MLG Winter, and it will start 3 days after the HOTS release. :)

Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
I'm still not sold on the Oracle needing both Envision and Revelation. Just give Revelation detection and give the Oracle a unique 3rd ability.
-
Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
Damn straight, balance be damned! It's still too easy too rape my shit with cloaked units, I wanted them nerfed into non-existence.
-
Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
Scanner sweep costs 50 energy for 12 seconds of detection in a 13 radius. I don't think 75-100 energy for the same thing on the Oracle that lasts a bit longer in a smaller radius is unreasonable. For some unknown reason people seem to think Revelation needs to last an entire minute. 100 energy to give detection of all units hit in a 5-6 rad for 30 seconds would be quite adequate.

Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
Haven't played much HotS, but I doubt there needs to be anymore nerfs to Dark Tempars/Banshees/etc.

How exactly is my suggestion a nerf to cloak? Oracle's already have Envision to detect and are fast enough to keep up with all cloaked units. All my suggestion does is increase the cost of Revelation to justify merging it with Envision, letting the detection not be directly tied to the Oracle's position. It doesn't nerf cloak in any way, it just buffs the Oracle a bit by not requiring it to be in harms way to detect since its so fragile, and giving it space for a better 3rd ability.

Re: Heart of the Swarm Pic of the Day
Squid, my only issue with the Tick is that you're dealing damage with a supply-less unit. Maybe if seers costed 2 supply altogether with providing 8?
I agree with the creep-vomiting: I just don't think it's enough.
Tychus, you agreed with me? Too bad we won't have anything to bet about then. Well, I bet MLG 3 days after HotS launches is a terrible idea, but this is something more we'll agree with, I believe.
EDIT: i watched the TLO game... lol. Maybe that's what Blizzard meant in 2010 when they said they thought players weren't really exploring Nydus uses. The way TLO uses it, it's like doing drop harass... with town portal scrolls. Except the you can teleport inside the enemy's base, too.

That's terrible reasoning. The Broodlings that erupt from dead Zerg buildings are supply-less, do damage, and have timed life. If the Swarm Host or Infestor survive long enough, Locusts and Infested Terrans are supply-less, do damage, and have timed life. There is already a precedent for Tick. The only difference is Tick is a guaranteed 1 DPS.

Enough for what? Its a minor Overseer buff with variable application and no foreseeable downside.

I have to agree here too, not enough pros are playing HotS yet for competitions like MLG to transfer over to it so quickly.

I really wish they had done SOMETHING with the Nydus for HotS MP. There's so much potential...

See? Now that's how you play the game. I know because those Hellbats were mine :D How'd you miss the 30 marines I fried before that?
But, yeah, I'll admit Hellbats are imba. So are Oracles if you use them right.
Don't get me started on Widow Mines.

Haha, that wasn't a dig at you. You used them right, I just happened to already be in your base, tearin' it up, and still happened to see the Oracles over my SCVs. Otherwise, you did it how anybody else would.

Hellbats are really really strong and so are the Oracles, but I think that Widow Mines are the only things that are really imba right now. Terran players are discovering that lately, and are starting to mass them more and more.
I laughed when I watched Dragon vs. WhiteRa yesterday, Dragon had 5 Marines in the base, and WhiteRa came with one Oracle, killed 5 Marines and like 6-7 Workers. Dragon responeded with "... Thx Blizzard".

Actually, more and more Pros are starting to play HOTS, majority of them aren't streaming it though. There is still a lot of time, and a lot of things will change in one month(probably 4-5 more balance updates).
About Nydus, I really really liked those additions that are moved to the Single Player right now. :(
Creep Tower was so cool, and Nydus Destroyer was actually decent building harassment.

That's probably because Stalkers don't actually have Force Field.

Cute.
Once again, I use Stalkers because I can Blink micro better than I can FF with Sentries. I've known this a long time, so I don't bother building Sentries anymore. That's why I never built any on Sunday, I would only have lost faster.
