I wonder, is the cover set during SC1? Could it hint at flashbacks from SC1?

It's set in StarCraft II, but I suspect there will be flashbacks to StarCraft I (as the cover shows).

So Heart of the Swarm gets a novelization? Does this imply it will be more linear than WoL?

It's not a novelization, it's an interquel between the two games.

Judging from the cover, it looks like the two are on Tarsonis. Certainly I expect there to be Kerrigan-centric flashbacks at least.

Enough, I just want a novel about the event during BroodWar.

As SC2 art moves on, the proportions between combat armor and marines becomes more imposible. ^^

The cover art is, at least, stylized. I retract my previous criticism in light of posts and that fact.

But yeah, it's an interquel. Takes place in the two years beyond each game.

And HotS takes place in 2506, two years after WoL. As I understand, the novel begins at the end of WoL, ends at the start of HotS, along with likely having flashbacks.

If a word gets used enough to describe something, it is a valid word (as any linguist would agree), whether purists like it or not. Tell me, what word do we have to describe something that takes place between two installments of a series is, if interquel is not the proper one?

That said, Wiktionary says it's a word, and Wikipedia agrees, as does TVTropes (though it mistakenly says a midquel is the same thing).
