I'm a pirate, I don't buy games. But before you start judging me, please allow me to explain myself. I live in a country where the average person earns ~$4000 a year, yet games cost as much here as they do elsewhere. Buying a game means spending 1/5 of my monthly salary - money I don't have, because I have to pay bills and buy food. You can say it's no excuse and I'm still stealing and... well, you'd be at least partially right. But I'm quite sure that anyone in my position would do the same. Hell, I know a lot of gamers here and none of them buy their games, it's just how things are.
Anyway, judge me if you must, but I finally gave in and I bought Starcraft 2. The only other games I've ever bought have been Starcraft+Brood War and Silent Hill 2. It just seemed like these games really deserved it, even though the money I spent on them could've gone for something better.
Not sure why I wrote this, but I guess I like the community here, so I thought I should let you know you might be facing me if you play on the european server and you're a top 50 gold.

Props for working up the money to buy at least one game that you support. I'm originally from Ukraine and it's the same situation there from what my cousin tells me. SC2 has infinite replay value with the competitive 1v1, editor, and custom maps - so it was a wise decision.
Let us know what you think of the campaign once you get done with it.

Thanks, that means a lot.
I've actually already completed the campaign and have discussed it in a few threads back when the game released. I played a pirated version then, but I'm currently working my way through beating it again on Brutal and getting all the achievements. I'm once again stuck on In Utter Darkness - that thing is bloody IMPOSSIBLE to beat on brutal with 750 extra kills. A lot of stuff has been said about the campaign already, both good and bad, so I don't want to revive that topic, but I find it is incredibly well made gameplay wise, and I enjoy it lore wise, but it could have been a lot better in that regard.
I'm currently working on my 1v1, but I'm a complete noob, I haven't played against other people ever. I'm top 50 gold right now, playing Terran, but most of my games have been losses - I can't seem to get the multitasking down and my gas and expo timings are incredibly off.
If anyone feels like giving me some advice or wants to play a game or two with me, my ID is Articorse.201.

Re: So I finally bought it...
Welcome to SC2 man.
While piracy is a crime, I find it important for many people out there. People who won't make money out of it, but "needs" these kind of things in their lifes. For instance, I know people from Brazil who would work for the mob if they weren't playing LFD2, Tibia, SC2, etc.
In Mexico we have the same story but not with videogames. People lack the money to buy a decent computer, and most are quite expensive. We have some small arcades here and there (for consoles), but the real market is about the movies. You might say, "Hey, they are much cheaper than games." but people can't even aford the 10-12 dls to buy a movie. People want to give their family a good time.
Piracy should be a crime for those who make money out of it, but not for the people who "need" it. Some companies just need to understand how to trade everywhere instead of bitch about their income. Blizzard privatised SC2's multiplayer experience in order to prevent piracy, and sold it at much lower price in LA to keep those customers. People in Mex are willing to pay 5k dls for a fridge if they must pay only a dollar every week for the rest of their lifes.

Re: So I finally bought it...
Thanks for the welcome.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'd be in the mob if it weren't for video games, but I understand what you're saying. It's pretty much the same here: extremely low salaries, but things cost about as much as they cost in the more 'developed' countries. The result is people barely being able to pay their bills and put food on the table.

In Utter Darkness - have to start off with massing colossus, then get void rays later to counter the hybrids. After you get the vault achievement get back to high ground & spam photon cannons. That's the easy way, then there's some more tricky strats i've heard off like dark templar wall-offs or something like that.
1v1 - really just comes down to massing games and working on mechanics while doing so. Hitting the find 1v1 button is the best practice you'll get (well, unless you can find a practice partner around your level who is willing to just mass games).

DT wall-off for each bridge is actually the much easier option imo. You then just aim for the Overseers first when each wave arrives.

@TychusFindlay
Oh, wow, that video was hilarious. :D
@Gradius & Turalyon
I actually tried the DT wall-off with VRs to snipe the overseers and it works great, except for this one moment where the enemy sends one overseer at one choke and three overseers at another at the same time. It's really, really frustrating. I think I'll have to "cheat" and just pass the mission normally on brutal, then get the achievements on normal.
EDIT: By the way, is there a SCLegacy chat channel on battle.net? I tried looking around the forums, but I didn't find anything about one.
EDIT2: FINALLY completed the mission with 3310 kills on brutal. Damn, that was exhausting.
