New change: "only 1 thor like the mothership was"
The burrow ultra charge thing is interesting...the viper pull is.....crazy. Swarm burrow unit doesn't seem to output attackers that quickly.
Jackhammer was faster! :D
my first thought on the toss units was looks some cut beta units are back
tempest now a giant corsair instead of a dark templar carrier.
star relic now a dark templar oracle.
star relic is more along the lines of an overseer...it doesnt replace the observer does it?
Observer is still in, unchanged (to our current knowledge).
That CG cutscene with the Ultralisk getting hit with that massive explosion is freaking awesome, and I use the word as it should be: "awe" + "-some".
These cutscenes look like they're going to be ten times better than the Wings of Liberty ones. Action, action, go!
SC2 Panel is coming up just now... this should be good!
My wet dreams of big brother SCVs have just came true (I'm looking at you, Warhound)
It's nice to see Zerg detectorific-ness has returned, now with 100% more any unit!
Replicant, you and I will have tons of fun.
This, combined with the content coming out for Diablo, is making me lose my cool. This is amazing. I regret I have a 13-hour shift today at the hospital. But this is... this is crazy.
When's the SC and Diablo lore panels, anyone know?
Iszha is Amanda Hayley! I knew it! I called it first!
I came.......to this thread to say that aside from the Shredder, all these abilities look awesome! Can't say I'll miss the Carrier or Mothership, liking the idea of the Tempest and Oracle. Replicant is...confusing. I'll need more info on just how it works. Intriguing through, that you could replicate an enemy worker and build up a second force.
Battle Hellion is cool, as it says sacrifice speed for durability, nice. I read Thor is one per army now? If the Warhound is the new Goliath-type unit, sounds like a good fit.
The Viper sounds completely badass all around. Swarm Host, sounds like it has limited uses but I suppose it'll be a fun harassment unit.
I just read the description of the official video:
Does this mean all of that was in-game, even the high-rest looking cinematics like the ultralisk-siege tank scene? If so: zomg.Quote:
We're proud to present additional fruits of that labor in this new teaser cinematic of footage rendered entirely within the StarCraft II game engine.
Re-watching the HotS trailer, does anyone else suspect Kerrigan is injecting herself with Zerg material? She seems to be doing it willingly, and is shielded so as to prevent Raynor or anyone else from interfering.

Some interesting stuff. I found out that Oracle can shut down any building, or should I say, doing Phase Shift, making it invulnerable. For example, it can shut down turrets, you can use it also on Spawning Pool/Spire/Roach Warren, so Zerg can't make those units or reinforce in battle. I find this very strong for some timing attacks etc.
Also, you can Phase Shift your own building, making it invulnerable(I don't know if it shuts down your production), but this is also great when it comes down to drop play from the Zerg/Terran, trying to destroy Robo Bay for Colossi or Cyber Core for Sentri/Stalkers, Forge for upgrades etc. This actually sounds pretty good.
And about Replicant, those that have said it has to be in melee range were wrong, as we saw in that trailer. Dustin confirmed that the units has to be in line of sight, so even if this unit is pretty expensive(which is subject for change), it still can be damn powerful, and I am not sure if you can Replicate your own units, but it would be amazing.
Can somebody tell me - swarm host mutate from larva or hydra ?
Ah yes, no massive units. Thank you for reminding me.
The replicant seems a strange way to balance Protoss. "Protoss is seemingly weaker than the other races so let's give it a unit that can be some of the imba units the other race has." Siege tank+colossus.:D Infestor+Colossus/High templar.:D
Heh. I love this. A giant dragonfly that lassos units and pulls them to a 'Ling-covered death? Ultralisks getting Samus's Morph Ball ability? A Protoss version of the Changeling, with an actual attack?
I gotta admit, this stuff is way more inventive than I thought Blizzard would get. Way to go.
That said, I am not a fan of the new Terran units.
I never played with Transformers as a kid and I never watched the tv show. Therefore, I don't have nostalgia warping my perception of reality and making me think that Transforming mecha is 'cool'. The Hellion transforming into a mech for increased damage resistance? Nah, not interesting.
And this Warhound? When it looks like 75% of the other mecha out there, the Art team ain't earning their paychecks.
They can change unit models before release.. This Oracle looks very similar to Replicator.
anyone think with assistance of oracles, dt strikes will be much more effective? At least against terran, disable his command center and turrets...then drop ur dts...dead terran.
Oracles from stargate tech. DTs from twilight council/templar tech. Drop from warp prism from robo tech. At the very least 2 different tech trees to use Oracle+DT.
If you manage to rush it on one base terran just lifts all his buildings, flies to an island or protected by rocks expansion then goes out to base trade. Seeing as you went two tech trees terran would have a larger army. Even if it doesn't fully work just running in killing as much as possible will already even up the game while terran recovers himself.
That kind of strategy seems better suited to 2 or more bases but at that point it's easier to hold. Could get a free win if terrans don't try to scout it out. But should be able to get a raven, saved scans and missile turrets in preparation of it. If that DT+Oracle style gains popularity it might even encourage faster stargate tech through 1-1-1 or hellion drops or banshees. Not exactly amazing though. It'll come quite late into the game.
This is an amazing resource for more info and videos...

Holy....seeing the video of the oracle and how it blocks off 5 mineral patches off one oracle.....woah......
Swarm host makes those units too slowly. Way too slow.
I think (seeing Zerg receives one less unit than the other) that:
Zerg will have these two new units as mutations.
Terran and Protoss will have an old unit replaced and two new units (even if one of them is a trasformation).
So that the current available number of units per race would be increased by 1.
Looking at Viper: its face resembles a Hydralisk, maybe it is a mutation of Hydra?
Swarm Host looks like a possible mutation too (I think of Roach, maybe)
EDIT: I've just saw the presentation of new Zerg units...so my guesses were wrong :(
I'd say the Swarm Host's face looks more like a Hydralisk, but I'm not sure if it's a mutation of it.
I'm not sure why we haven't found out where it's produced from yet... it's playable on the show floor I think.
My thoughts on the new units:
Terran
- Battle Hellion: useless. Anti-light unit, with average-high HP, oriented to late game. It's also slower than the majority of other units. Why oh why Blizzard? In what situations did you imagine this unit to be useful. Cause for sure, I can't think of any.
- Warhound: I'm really excited to see the replacement for Thor. What I would have really liked was another Terran unit transforming into the Warhound. Like the Hellion. Hellion is good in the early game and for harassement, but when a bunch of Mutas appear, they are very vulnerable. Combining the speed of Hellions with the transformation into Warhounds would have been better in defending expansions from raids.
- Shredder: I'm a bit skeptical we'll see their use from a defensive point of view. They can't be placed near mineral lines, cause of the SCVs; they can't be placed at choke points because of other units passing by. The only places left are scattered throughout the base to prevent possible drops or out in the open for scouting purposes.
From an offensive point of view, the shredder can be really good at containing an opponent.
Protoss
- Replicant The idea and concept of the unit is unique and interesting. But i doubt they will be able to balance it out. Combining other terran/zerg units with the existing high DPS late units would break the gameplay. Imagine Collosi being backed up by Vikings. Or Tanks with Sentries.
- Oracle: I agree with Blizzard on this one: there aren't many harassing units. Pheonix can be a nice harassing unit but requires a higher apm, DT's are expensive and extremely late. What would make the oracle even better is the ability to actually kill workers. But slowing the mining time will have to do for now.
- Tempest: I love it! Capital ship with lots of HP that does AOE damage. Plus it looks bad-ass (though i believe it would look even better in silver-blue colors (like the void-ray) ). Not much else to say.
Zerg
- Swarm Host: Launching small, little, f***ing slow hydra-like creatures is ridiculously BAD and unimaginative. In the demonstration Blizzard made, they barely got to attack the buildings and that's because the freaking terran player decided not to go after the swarm host. It kinda overlaps with the infestor's ability to spawn infested terran, but the infestor has two more very powerful spells.
I would've like to see sort of an artillery burrowed unit, launching either small and slow attacks at a base or other units (like banelings) from a 9-10 range. The first time I saw the teaser image, this was what i originally thought of this unit.
- Viper: Extremely interesting with a lot of potential. I hope it will not cost much or it's use will be greatly narrowed. I can't wait to see the new strategies involving this unit. Blizzard, please don't nerf/scrap the Viper!
PS: Did I miss when they said it or Blizzard didn't remove any units from the terran's arsenal. Kinda disappointed about this fact if it's true.
warhound : the new scv.
Shredder is new terran stalker, what a great design
epic fail
