As for the Ulaan artifacts representing something in the middle between the Protoss and Zerg depictions, it looks more like the Protoss Hybrid seen in SC2. (Which was actually originally meant to be the ONLY Hybrid, as there were originally no Protoss or Zerg Hybrids, just one Hybrid type, and it looked like the Protoss one).
ow, that bit about it being an infested adjutant has escaped me, i thought it was her memory only.. :D
jeah i know what it looks like more, i was saying how it looked a lot like it; with the weird body shape and the tentacles- something it looked just like a copy of the thing to me :)

Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
So, she has amnesia. I'm betting the game is going to open with her waking up somewhere with Raynor and co gone. The scene in the trailer probably happens early (closing the first act, perhaps, similar to the escape from Mar Sara), and might even be the first time we see the two of them together post-WOL. She might not even remember Duran.
-
Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
I've got a sneaking suspicion she'll remember Duran and that he will reveal himself, or that kerrigan will bump into him just out of a "coincidence" that he sets up.

Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
did anyone else wonder why nova was with spectres? makes ya speculate.
i'm excited about brood mothers and the variety of evolutions to existing units from the evolution chamber room. can't wait to see what the ultralisk will become. maybe someone will make a custom zerg faction war map of green vs purple choices. it would be the best zvz ever.
all this brood mother focus makes me hope the queen upgrade is coming back but i don't like the idea of removing units. i'd miss the overseer.

I reckon they'll be the Omegalisk (tentacles can skewer additional targets) and Torrasque (resurrects after death). That, or something new.

Agreed. And like she has African American blood in her -- which there is nothing wrong with BUT she is just supposed to be a white chick with pale skin!!!

Needless to say, I don't like it.

Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
well, personally i like more her look in the artwork than that in the game.
i dont think she looks like a angry teenager... well, she looks really piss off, but not emo-style =P
in fact to me she looks more young in the in-game desing than in the artworks =P

Don't worry, she only looks like that she'd do those things. Doesn't mean she will.
They've also made her an amnesiac (or half-amnesiac if there are such things?) - another trite cliche we have to look forward too.
I can imagine it now. Kerrigan: "I don't remember, like, being totally evil and all, so I'm not really evil to the core, you know? Please love me!" :p

To each his own complaint, I guesss. I don't mind the amnesia too much. Cliches only become cliches because of being poorly handled and each amnesiac character too similar to another is due to the writer's inability to provide sufficient depth of character. The storyline of amnesiac Kerrigan slowly regaining memories of what she was can be done well (although I'm not saying it necessary will be, I'm a pessimist here, one who'd like to be pleasantly surprised however).
Now, I do like my mature and larger than life characters to actually look mature and larger than life (and "mature" doesn't necessarily mean "worse looking", to drive home the point that they can get Kerrigan right there's a lovely portrait of her in WoL
http://images.wikia.com/starcraft/im...n_SC2_Art1.jpg
why don't they let this guy handle more main character art is beyond me).

hehehehe, actually, if my memory serves me right there was a big discussion here in the forum pretty long ago as to what they will do to kerrigan, and all about her loosing her memory didn't stick pretty well (i think) but, she is and isn't amnesiac, after all she still can remember something herself but for all other things she has Izasha (?) her own zergy ihan :D jeah i'm trying to be positive about the outcome

Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
Amnesia can be a cliché and something original. Memento used it for the latter, and became one of the decade's most intriguging films because of it.
I think the amnesia is just a jumping point to Kerrigan starting to come to terms with herself as a character. Because she is described in third person by an advisor, she also gets a third person perspective. Combine it with her recent deinfestation, which seems to have given her back some of her conscious, and you can get a lot of things.

Herein lies the potential problem I think. Does Kerrigan character have much depth to begin with especially when the source of Kerrigan's amnesia in HotS was from a magical glowing rock in WoL? All I see is one plot device begetting another plot device rather (reset button anyone?) than a natural character evolution based on one's experiences. In turn, would this not render the subsequent evolution of her character throughout HotS (as good as it may well turn out to be) as being somewhat contrived and ultimately hollow?

I don't think that her amnesia is the problem I think it's her de-infestation to begin with, since it's basically a way to turn her again into a good and sympathetic character without ANY development whatsoever (wave a magic wand and she's a good girl again). If anything the amnesia is a welcome element since it introduces some potential for development (even if in a very forced and artificial manner).
I think the idea of Kerrigan having to confront her deeds from some sort of a moral viewpoint is an interesting one, I just don't think that you have to make her human or good for that. There are much more interesting and poignant ways in which Infested Kerrigan could have gained a moral compass (of sorts).
Can Kerrigan's character be deep enough for such a story to work? Depends on the writer's approach and the amount of thought behind it, if he can imagine (and write) her as a real person then yes, her character can be deep enough.
But again I have a very pessimistic outlook concerning the quality of the writing, the best I can say is that the idea has potential and doesn't totally blow, and who knows, maybe there'll be some moments they get right that'll feel the way StarCraft should.

So, anyone noticed this looks like the bottom of this? From the beginning of the teaser trailer.

Well, guys.

Ten bucks Kerrigan awakens there. If you still don't trust me: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/game/hea...swarm-preview/
The image at the left with Kerrigan seated over a lab thing should be enough (watch those robotics arms, they're the same :P).
Also, wtf is this creature: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/media/ar...warm-artwork10 o_o?

I owe it to lagging. Now, why does a Dominion crew infiltrate a Dominion base? Father and son disagreeing? Someone else having taken control of it?

Id imagine they take kerrigan to a dominion facility on char initially. Considering Valerian and the entire dominion armada helped end the WoL events, after all. Seems to explain why nova is being sent out and the imagine on that bulkhead.

Look at the gameplay showing the unit in action...It seems to take place in some kind of laboratory. I'm guessing the 1st mission is set on Char, and you have to escape the facility?

Not in WoL...They always showed them on maps that were in the campaign. Unit upgrades were shown in the respective unit's map (where you, the player, first got access to it), while research shows the unit generally on a map where they are suggested to be used, or on a map where they can have their first and/or most important use.

Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
Well, you might be right. It's not the most unlikely of scenarios.
On a sidenote, for everyone worried about things not looking good enough, may I reintroduce you to the original Matt Horner:

Yes, things change. For the better. A piece of trivia: that face was later reused for a Char corpse zipped up in a bag.
-
Re: HOTS Campaign Screenshots
Hahaha. That original Matt Horner sure does look ugly.
Blizzard must have a fetish for trying to make their characters ugly, what with all the complaints about Kerrigan not looking sexy enough, or white enough or whatever...
