A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
I think the Zerg seems weak because I haven't seen a Zerg player abuse Nydus Worm. It is such a pivotal piece of Zerg mobility that I do not know why more people aren't making creep carpets everywhere when they get a Lair and constructing a Nydus Network. You can basically move your units anywhere on the map in an instant... I want to see players dotting the map with worms making the Zerg seem to come from everywhere!
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
Have you played the game? I haven't, but some of the guys from TL that have played the latest builds say Zerg is the strongest race right now.
On paper means nothing. We can't make any calls like this until beta.
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
The Zerg means something in big numbers as it was in SC 1.
I've seen battles where Zergs one match by match.

Why exactly? Because they were buffed, or because Spawn Larva is broken?

They said spawn larva is the best macro mechanic, and makes it extremely easy for Zerg to replace their troops. Protoss are OK because they've got Warp In, but Terrans can't keep up even with MULEs and double pumping buildings.
This was just a few guys talking on LzGamer's stream though. I'm not saying that it's true, I'm just saying we don't know anything for sure until beta hits.
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
I read a while ago that nydus network wasn't used as much. Maybe it's because its underpowered.

you read wrong, it's an easy, brutal and hard to defend drop/attack

I easily gained more minerals than any other race, the extra spawn of larva is a great macro mechanic, the most easy for me to learn it
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
from what i read the queens spawn larva ability can compensate for a 2nd hatchery and borrow is worth something now.
but from what i'm reading zerg are harder to play. they said zerg require more micro and macro than the other races and maybe people are losing because they aren't doing just that.
yes, until the beta i'm blaming it on the player not the race.

Yes, and I've heard people say that you can just build Stalkers and win as Protoss against anything.
A lot of people have conflicting opinions on what works and who's stronger coming out of BlizzCon.

I don't know how you could make it more powerful without just saying "for 100 minerals, the Zerg get to recall any number of units to any location on the map."
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
I have problems with Zerg's Macro in SC1, when I was playing as Zerg in StarCraft 2 the Extra Spawn of Larva MM help'd me alot to play good, on some decent level of gaming. I find Terrans the hardest to learn, since I can't understand their tech tree and other stuff.
For me the Protoss and the Zerg are the most easy to learn and easy to play.

But they're supposed to boost a progamer's macro while at the same time making it more difficult to micro. If they're easy to use, all progamers will use them, and it will be the same than if the mechanics didn't existed.

Well I say so, because it was easy for me, I don't know about other people.
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
Honestly you can't fully judge a race from the get go until people develop killer strategies, but if there's useless units already like the infestor that's a problem. Even if there's 1 useless unit in an army that's a huge huge problem. It's not going to be used, one less counter, and the loss of a potentially really useful unit.
And there's a lot of problems, some minor, with the race. It's not just, Aha nobody uses Nydus worm so it's bad. The whole race needs some love
Re: A theory why Zerg seems underpowered.
Right now its still to early to judge, yes I know we have all heard it before but the saying is true. The game is still in limited hands and has not developed a pure meta game, strict build orders nor are these races played to their fullest yet. We can TheoryCraft all we want, but until we drop our pens/papers and our furry youtube videos to really play the game, nothing can really be said.
With that said, if Zerg is the strongest race by far, we all expect Blizzard to do something about it.

Terran has a balanced race and one that can change it's force quickly, and bring reinforcements quickly, Protoss have powerful units that are highly mobile. Almost all of the Protoss units have a purpose and they're all well done. Zerg have what? I can't name a thing, really. The Queen? The Queen hasn't been good since it was in the "hero" style. The Ultralisk? Yea I guess..but that's not much and it comes in at the end of the game. Idk, Zerg just feel all out lame. At this point they should just reuse almost everything from the first game. Banelings are the coolest thing they have.
