Re: Zerg Buildings and.. frogs & doves?
which video exactly? I watched the videos and didn't see any hives. I'm basing the Lair and Hive looks from the released renders last month.
Lair
Hive
Re: Zerg Buildings and.. frogs & doves?
I like the Evolution Chamber, it's like growing a Cerebrate in the Multiplayer!
The Lair looks okay, just need to tweak the pentagonal carapace and mouth into an organic feel. The Hive should change a bit more as well.
The Lurker Den looks like a Lurker but it's starting to grow on me, it's got detailed texture on it that makes it feel organic and unique.

Re: Zerg Buildings and.. frogs & doves?
btw, when i say evolution chamber, i don't refer to the SC1 version, i refer to the old SC2 version, which sort of looked like multiple layers of carapace, a sac, and a few tentacles. I'll admit though, the Zerg buildingn death animations are awesome! Especially the Baneling Nest's! Both the Lair and Hives are just larger Hatcheries with more spikes.. in SC1, they at least looked liked different buildings that did resemble each other, and the Hive had this majesty to it..

I like the new one personally! In fact I like all the new Zerg models, the updated ones that is. Hatchery -> Hive is a little bit straight-forward but it still looks really cool.
Damnit Aldarius everytime I see that thing now I'm gunna think nose.

I'm concerned about the Lurker Den and Ultralisk Cavern too, since they're practically the unit models covered with green sacs and/or zerg carapace; a little lazy don't you think?
I'm also curious as to why frogs inhabit Monlyth (you'll notice in the SP preview where the player attempts to retrieve an artefact on the planet 'Monlyth' you can hear frogs croaking). And also as to why doves can be seen in almost all jungle maps in the art panel? I mean sure, make it possible, but in SP, I hope not to see too many Earth-originated creatures... try replacing them with critters!
reminds me of the book where Kerrigan assimilates a very large dog and uses his bones to make roverlisks...since those events were actually shortly before broodwar it must be assumed that she changed those roverlisk skeleton plans into plans for the lurker. uhm...yeah i guess if they have dogs in starcraft it's not a big deal to have frogs and doves too.

Lair
Hive
In this case the Lair actually looks bigger than the Hive, which I'm sure shouldn't happen.
As for the other stuff, I'd like to see some extra critters, and maybe even some that can do damage.
Re: Zerg Buildings and.. frogs & doves?
Im cunfortable with all new models, BUT the old greater spire
Has anyone seen the new model for it?
Re: Zerg Buildings and.. frogs & doves?
I know this makes me an odd man out, but the Zerg building that most needs a revamp...is the Baneling Nest. Seriously...it's a flying claw! Why is it a flying claw? Do Banelings fly!?

Its more like Big Spider with Web from his legs to the ground... But I have to agree it doesn't fit Zerg at all...

A spider-like thing doesn't fit the Zerg?
Anyway, the shape of it is more interesting than most Zerg buildings (which tend to be random blobs of flesh).
