I like the idea too. I've tried to do it in wc3, but it doesn't work as well because the attached units can't do anything. They are just there for looks. This will a low players to make mounts for units or completely new unit ideas.

bunkers on top of battlecruisers.
awwww yeah
yeah, the map editor presentation was great, just to note some few things I haven't seen posted here yet.. (unsure if this is already known or not..)
22 tilesets - mostly based on planets (char, mar sara, etc.)
The Lost Viking map they showed at the gameplay panel looks like it will be in the singleplayer campaign (there was an arcade thing that had the name on it in the cantina, but it was not playable at the time)
In gameplay panel Q&A it was said that persistant characters would be possible within online ums maps
The multiple connected maps that were possible in wc3 singleplayer are possible in multiplayer now
Other than that I think most everything I've seen/done at blizzcon has been covered here.. I'll have pictures to add to the ever growing mass though when they get developed (though i'm not sure exactly what i took pictures of anymore :P)
This is about custom maps and map development yet it stays in SC2 discussion? Mine got moved to Map Making / Modding.
That doesn't really make much sense. Once you get into the editor, no unit exists as a single entity, it's just a collection of data thrown together with animations. Replace the Marine's animated model with the Terratron's animated model and "the Terratron will be able to do damage."
It's been said before, but, wow. Everything I could have hoped for and more. How am I ever supposed to go back to the WC3 editor, in the meantime, after seeing that display? That is godly.
