You know, again, to be fair, I actually like her laugh a lot.
It doesn't make me go 'ooooh.' the way Glynnis' did (but that was more for nostalgia's sake), but it's a pretty damn cool laugh.

The thing is, she was still pretty 'young' in Brood War, and tended to be pretty brash and impulsive. The Dark Templar novels say that she's supposedly become a lot more cold and less emotional in the years since Brood War, though I suspect that that may not actually translate to how she's like in-game.

Seriously, just hire back the lady for continuity's sake. If there's one thing I can't stand it's re-casting in most cases. ESPECIALLY one such as this where it's basically mind boggling as to why they did it.
Glynnis' voice just has that natural sexual maturity to it. It's like she's always talking dirty to me. The new voice feels a little forced. Like there is no passion at all. Also the emphasis feels a bit wrong and she feels more flatline than Glynnis.
Listen to how she says "I knew you find your way here". It's *almost* monotone. Glynnis' version has a slight curvaceous sound to it (she lowers right after I knew, and kinda lifts off the your way here and there is an infinitesimally small pause before she says eventually, kinda like teasing you a little) The new lady feels like she's just reading a bunch of lines.
Although I can understand why Blizzard chose the latest lady, Glynnis has almost a humanistic appeal to her characters, she makes them much more human than perhaps Blizzard likes. Kerrigan felt very human in the first SC, and her Zerg traits were just a corruption. Blizz probably wants her to be completely corrupted by the Swarm now... so a more robotic / artificial sounding person was hired.
Who knows, as far as I can tell, they are all quite *good*. The real test will be the dialogue and storyline.
Nothing has yet beaten this kind of dialogue:
Quote:
Awaken my child, and embrace the glory that is your birthright. Know that I am the Overmind; the eternal will of the Swarm, and that you have been created to serve me.
Why didn't they just get Clothworthy and Talken, and this whole discussion would be obsolete... we could actually enjoy the video.
Seriously if you listen to the voices in direct comparison there is no way in hell Blizzard could have chosen Strassman over Talken for creative reasons. Must be something with money or contract.... :D
Okay Talken is more human and has even something vulnerable in her voice. The new girl is the better bitch voice and probably a better villain. So it's basically flat and stereotype (Strassman) vs. character and history (Talken). Decide for yourself!
Glynnis is so muich better and no I don't say that for nostalgic reasons. Anybody who doesn't hear it in the video is just deaf
Just start a mail campaign! ;)
But no to be honest: I also think that Strassman will do a good job. We haven't herad a lot so for. But SC2 is just a game that aims atpure PERFECTION on every level. And perfection would be Glynnis Talken.

So... Everyone (Glynnis included) auditioned forever ago back way before Clotworthy was brought on (or even asked to return as far as I know), and... has Kerrigan actually been cast, or are they still on the fence?Quote:
StarCraft II's Kerrigan (Queen of Blades) has a new voice, and Karen Strassman has confirmed she recorded for the role.
Strassman said she "underwent a pretty intense audition process for Kerrigan," and had "two different callbacks." In the last callback, it was between Strassman and another candidate, with Strassman being chosen in a session held by five high-ranking members of the development team. She "then had a day or so of recording, and voila."
A week ago we reported rumours about Strassman taking over the job as Kerrigan from Glynnis Talken. We spoke to Strassman, who later said she did voice Kerrigan, but the recording was done "one-two years ago." The community manager for StarCraft, Kevin Yu, also chimed in, saying "this is one that you'll want to wait for an official announcement from us." However, he didn't confirm or deny the rumour, emphasising only that Blizzard "want to make sure the fans get the most epic StarCraft II experience."
Since Kerrigan won't have much screen time in StarCraft: Wings of Liberty, "a day or so" could very well be all the recording the developer needed, and that timeframe is definitely more than it would need for one trailer. We now know Strassman went through the audition process and was hired, but the question remains whether Blizzard has done new recordings since.
X
So she last recorded Kerrigan's lines one-two years ago? Wonder whether it was before or after last BlizzCon.
If they brought Clotworthy back only recently however... Damn, this makes me hopeful.
Well, it looks like it wouldn't take a lot of work to replace her or anything.
Huh.
Kerrigan must barely be in it. Suppose that makes sense.
yeah we haven't seen everything yet. Maybe she is better. Who knows.
