The third question is supposed to be noncritical.

(12:09:37 AM) Jack Doe: You're hitting some old s*** there
(12:10:22 AM) Jack Doe: It will be better to explain it all as a whole. We try out a LOT of things. A LOT. Think about how much you imagine things are changing, then multiply it by 10, then realize that's a 40 hour week and I can work 80-90.
(12:11:37 AM) Jack Doe: If we make a change we like, we revisit "scrapped" ideas in an order to see if they fit better. It's more structured than you think
(12:11:47 AM) Jack Doe: It's like the way a person handles a jigsaw puzzle
(12:12:40 AM) Jack Doe: When you start searching through the 1000 pieces, and see 1-2 work out. You have to almost start from the beginning and try out all the pieces you put aside to see if they fit the new picture you're building. Repeat this every time you find something that fits, and sometimes realize that old pieces don't look right and fit better elsewhere as you get closer to the finished product.
(12:13:38 AM) Jack Doe: This won't answer your questions specifically, but it's the theme behind "why" you asked your question. Things have changed as other pieces fit better.
Re: Questions for an SC2 Dev, right now.
What do you do when the team makes a design decision you dont like?
If you could change one design decision about SC2 right now what would it be?

In an 8 player FFA, will the slowest pc set the speed for everyone, or will it run at low fps on the slow pc only? Does the speed of the gameplay scale with the framerate?
(12:21:37 AM) Jack Doe: I'm going to be safe and say "wait until Blizzcon" for good answers. Sorry.

(12:25:12 AM) Jack Doe: That's hard to answer. In other companies, that would be easier to answer because that's more a political situation. In blizzard, the team is very group oriented. Ideas that are given become a group mentality. We try it as a group, don't really shoot it down but look at why it won't work. Identify problems and solutions and see if those fit other problems we have or solutions we are seeking. Our goal is to make a game that reaches a standard that we feel meets the expectation that we set. If I feel something passionately, then it typically is received with just as much passion. At the end of the day, it it makes it, we feel more like "we did a good job" instead of "I made that possible"
(12:25:49 AM) Jack Doe: We can change design decisions every day, if you look at my last paragraph, you can see how that isn't uncommon or an issue.

Oh I should have clarified. I meant one thing you wanted to do that the team disagreed with. I am happy to hear everyone works so well together but even the best groups still have internal debates and differences of oppinions. For instance Dustin said that whenever you guys tried to cut a unit from SC1 there was someone who loved that unit.
Also if people dont have that many more questions we would really love some more clarification on the "Dedicated Obelisk" issue.
0: )
Dedicated Obelisk= one Obelisk is exclusively Proton Charge and others are Recharge which allot of people dont like because it elimintates decision making for how you spend your energy).
Edit: I love editing
