The new voice actor did a better job using emotion and expressing it in the clip.
Glynnis sounded bored and unemotional, and honestly in comparison I would much rather listen to someone with emotion when they speak, such as Karen Strassman, compared to someone like a female version of Ben Stein.
If it sounds forced, it's never a good job.
Kerrigan is supposed to sound cold and distant most of the time, she has lost much (if not all) of her humanity. Her cruelty and contempt are all the more poignant because they have the air of a little more than the half hearted amusement of a cat playing with a mouse.

That was her in SC:BW. She's had 4 years to get over her emo-ness and get used to the idea of playing the bad girl. For all we know, she might be into it now that she's in control with everyone else her playthings.

Well I'm hoping Blizzard doesn't pull that off-screen character development stuff again... that's never worked for them.
I mean Kael'thas in The Burning Crusade? That was very disappointing.
Though er... I wouldn't really agree with that take on Kerrigan's characterization. What made Glynnis great in Brood War for me was how arrogantly and totally she'd off-handedly give a speech about how stupid everyone was just after she'd killed somebody. (To Mengsk, to Zeratul... twice..., even to Dugalle.)

Exactly. I love the "irony" in Talken's voice. Her voice is very sexy and ironical at the same time.
The second voice is only rough - nothing more, not sexy, not ironical, just rough.
But this is probably strongly subjective.
But I don't understand why they are even speculating about another voice actors for the main characters. Has Darth Vader different voice in each episode of Star Wars? Do you want him to have different voice in each episode?
I think that would be silly.

"Emo-ness"? If anything else Kerrigan rarely shows emotion. And where did I say that she wasn't "into it" (tho' admittedly I don't see Kerrigan as a character that can be defined in terms of being "into" something).

That actually ties in with what I said. Kerrigan is the only character that can be so flippantly contemptuous and insouciant towards her adversaries (even such as Zeratul), partially through malice and partially through alienation.
Re: Rumor: Karen Strassman
I have to say, it's definately not bad, but she sounds more like a teenage infested Kerrigan, because her pitch is higher. She's missing that mature bass in her voice that gives her a commanding presence, and is what makes Kerrigan's voice so appealing to me.
Compare it to the Kerrigan clip from Blizzcon - when Glynnis's performance has the deep, dark laugh growing up out of the darkness. I can't really imagine Karen matching that sort of a performance. For me, it's missing the factor - I'm not afraid of it at all. It doesn't send the same chills down your spine when you hear it, though admittely that may be a reaction of nostalgia as much as anything else.

Re: Rumor: Karen Strassman
Glynnis in the CG Intro was perfect.
"I knew you'd find your way here... eventually."
I really don't see Stassman pulling off the same malevolent tone.
Re: Rumor: Karen Strassman
She has an extensive resume, but the bulk of it is anime (Memories of Higurashi... resurfacing... must overcome PTSD...), and uncredited "that random voice" game work.
I was sooo happy when I heard Talken talkin' in the Kerrigan v Zeratul clip. Just because Blizz rocks doesn't mean it's infallible. This concerns me.
Re: Rumor: Karen Strassman
Karune's post gave me a TINY bit of hope....

Although I admire Incgamer's indepth reporting- this is one that you'll want to wait for an official announcement from us. With all aspects of the game, we want to make sure the fans get the most epic StarCraft II experience. Choosing voice actors too is no different, especially for such a notable character as the Queen of Blades ;)
That being said, I haven't heard any new news from Glynnis lately, so I'm not sure what that means. *fingers triple crossed that we get Glynnis back*

Well, her entire motivation in SC:BW was to get back at those who (in her view) betrayed her and to control the Swarm so as to never be anyone's pawn again.
