Making Infested Terrans like Kerrigan
From our recent discussion it is apparent that many people are unhappy with the Spawn Infested Marines. Infestation by defination only applies to Terran resulting in confusing explainations for how the ability is possible in non-terran battles. In light of this I believe that replacing Infested Terrans with Assimilated Terrans may be the best option.
Lore
The Starcraft instruction manual tells how that the Zerg discovered humanity and intended to assimilate them into the swarm to harnass their latent psychic potential. In keeping with this theme I propose replacing Infested Terrans with a new breed of Zerg/Terrans spawned by the Infestor. These Assimilated Terrans would be engineered by Kerrigan to unleash the Terran psychic powers that have until now only been harnassed by ghosts.
The Assimilated Terrans would have a powerful ranged psychic attack, perhaps similar to the one that Tassadar had in the caimpaign. However these new zerg creatures cannot control their power and are driven mad after a certain time on the battle field (Timed Life).
Model
As far as the model would look I think a male version of Kerrigan without wings would do nicely. Perhaps green lighting spouting from the eyes to indicate they are going mad. When their timed life runs out the head could explode. Since the Assimilated Terrans are grown in the Infestor and have a ranged and AA attack the only thing the developers would need to change is the lore and art.
Effect
By removing the armour and guns and making the unit entirely biological you avoid the awkward "zerg brought infested terrans to the planet invisibly" explaination. They can be grown in a zerg colony even if there are no Terrans around. This will make the ability less confusing for new players and more enjoyable for people who dont like the idea of marines magically appearing.
Finally, Infested Command Centers, Infested Barracks, Infested Marines, etc.. can be moved to singleplayer. There Infestation can realize its full potential with missions that involve the zerg player high jacking terran bases and pumping out tentacled marines :D

STOP, making threads about infested terrans. It's getting old and annoying, and your version makes less sens than Blizz current one.

Re: Making Infested Terrans like Kerrigan
Great post!
And great conclusions!
This way infested marines would finally "find their own place under the (starcraft) sun" if they made them like you suggested. :)
One thing though: not exploding heads - just going berserk for 1-3 sec and then falling on the ground.

I can't imagine Infested Terrans without being Marine shaped, and I wouldn't start now :(

You can still have Infested Marines. Its right next to the firebat and dragoon and defiler in singleplayer :)
Re: Making Infested Terrans like Kerrigan
I'd be for this. I really don't see how people can be diddly happy about Infestors spawning gun-toting soldiers. That's absurd. Yes, so is a marine shooting a BC. But gameplay requires it, or at least the marine-damaging-BC's concept is the best solution.
This is NOT a gameplay trumps lore situation. Infested Marines carrying guns spouting from eggs spouting from infestors? That is going out of your way for ridiculousness. Gameplay in no way requires it! Stupid!
Your solution, Archy, is the best one available that keeps the general idea.
Re: Making Infested Terrans like Kerrigan
mmm... I think that not even Kerrigan is really assimilated. Assimilated is when they destroy and absorb the whole race to develop new abilities for the swarm. Kerrigan is just an infested Ghost. Her basic form was kept, after heavy modifications, and she's a Zerg now, but she isn't really a Zerg unit. The swarm cannot create new Kerrigans from Larvae.
I prefer my AoE ability that turns Terran infantry into Infested Terrans (and make bio units of other races hatch a Zerg creature with similar stats), if the units die before the ability's timer expire.
Re: Making Infested Terrans like Kerrigan
I think spawning units out of thin air doesn't really fit the Infester whether those units are Zerg or Terran in their basic nature. Spawn Broodling made sense on the Queen because a "queen" is something that hatches children. Mantalings make sense on the Brood Lord because the name implies that it rules over many smaller minions. The Infester, in keeping with its name, should be based around corrupting opposing units or structures and rendering them unusable or turning them against the opponent.
Change "Spawn Infested Terrans" into an ability that takes over an enemy building, preventing it from producing units, researching, or attacking. That would be good gameplay wise - stop enemy production or disable defensive buildings for a certain time period - and would make more sense from a lore perspective. Even Zerg and Protoss buildings could conceivably be "taken over" by some kind of spewed living substance from the Infester (much like the infest building ability it used to have)
Re: Making Infested Terrans like Kerrigan
I totally give up on this debate.
I used to be against spawning infested Terrans, but now I don't really care.
But for some reason, I've found a new passion for hating the Thor and its absolutely unrealistic nature. Oh well, no matter what happens the Thor is now permanently part of the SC universe whether it stays in the game or not... due to works such as Thundergod in the Frontline Volumes.
In any case, I digress.
I think I'd be content with just spawning infested Terrans like the raise the dead ability in WC3, except no bodies required. I don't like the throwing egg animation.

Thumbs up, this is a half decent idea :)
