Thread Ratings

So I recently learned that threads can be rated. and I have noticed that some threads do get rated. What I don't understand is the rating graphic. All I see are five little black boxes that don't really stand out and actually look like the boxes that appear when something is improperly linked to (missing image, etc.). Are we supposed to see stars or something else? Or are the little black boxes the actual intended graphic? Or is it that firefox is made of fail?

The images show up as they are supposed to(copy/paste it into a new tab to see). The boxes aren't filled in when it has a lower rating. I do think they should be changed to something that doesn't hide in too much. Maybe someone with power to do that will notice and take care of this. ;)
