Might get a new widescreen monitor from Best Buy. Tell me. Does the Acer/Asus brand suck? Anyone have any experience with these brands? They look like they have good value but I don't want a piece of crap. Thank ya'll

I personally stay away from Acer. Though if you do your research you can come out with a good deal. I suggest getting the models that you are looking @ and go to newegg.com, find it and look at the user reviews. I've found pretty good stuff by doing that :)

From personal experience, I find Compaq and HP to be good brands for monitors.

Samsung and Dell are generally pretty good quality, although they cost a lil bit more.

Here's the thing, Acer used to be a shitty brand, but they have some very nice monitors. I've got one at work that has the "shiny" screen, and it's got better color than my Dell Ultrasharps. That said, many of their monitors (especially the less expensive ones) are just ok.

You mentioned my new favorite monitor company, Asus. I recently bought a 21.5" Asus from Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051). Why 21.5? Because it supports full 1080p, unlike most similar sized screens. It's not a big deal, since the screen isn't tha tlarge, but I'm a freak ok?

The monitor is only $150 right now, and you get 21.5", 2ms refresh, and a slew of ports including HDMI. My only complaint so far has been that the power button is orange. I wholeheartedly recommend it, and everyone I know who's gotten an Asus lately has really liked them.
As people have mentioned, Dell and Samsung are both reliable standbys. LG typically makes good stuff too.

If you're going to go Dell, be sure to wait for a sale on their online site, and you can make some big savings. And go Ultrasharp. Their regular monitors are just like crappy Acers.

Pretty much all Samsung's monitors are good, but they're all expensive. Honestly, I dropped a lot of cash for my 52" Samsung LCD, but I wouldn't pay their prices on monitors.

My recommendation is a good Asus.

Samsung T200 or T220 depending on your money and size preference.

T200 has 2ms response time, 20.000:1 dynamic contrast and 1680x1050 resolution
Its around 135 euros for the 200 and around 170 for the 220 one.

I have the T200 just purchased it recently and I'm very satisfied.

Samsung T220:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001273
22" 1680x1550 2ms @ $230 after MIR

Asus VH222H
21.5" 1920x1080 (1080p) 2ms @ $149 after MIR

or Asus VW224U - same specs as Samsung for $149 after MIR.

The Samsung's are very nice, but they aren't nearly worth $100 extra dollars IMO. Stick with Asus and save some cash, you won't be disappointed.
