I used the wrong combinations of words jeje. I truly meant that I would play when I get some free time.
Besides being late at night, I will defragment my hard drive and attach my gaming hardware for a maximum performance InGame. So it might take me tonight and tomorrow.

Its funny how you like the name "Jack"

Yeah, trust me, this is unrelated to our choice to nickname my friend Jack Doe. When I was younger and in high school, one of my friends attempted to get me on a blind date to help him with someone he was trying to get with. The only way he found to describe me, which was ultimately cheesy, was "He's a Jack of all trades, life without fear".
While the date was a bomb, that phrase was something we kinda joked/made fun of over time. One day I was trying to find a good username that didn't involve a random number behind it all the time so I tried combining three words... Jack... Life... Fear.
Thus, my overall online identity of "jacklifear" was born. "Gifted" was merely my first SC screen name when it came out.
Jack Doe was chosen because we were trying to think up generic names on the fly that one night when he offered to have the personal QA (when he was drunk). We decided "John doe" was too vague, but Jack kinda was the next suggestion. To this day, his alias on my Trillian List is "Jack Doe"... it's kinda stuck though I don't call him it outside of this community.
And btw, my RL name is Kevin, not Jack, in case you were curious.

This game blows. All I ever do is mass stuff and send them to control points. No real strategies involved or anything. Controls are not that responsive either. 3rd one was way better than this. The menu is pretty ugly too. The cliff jumping animation is also ridiculous. Well this game is no competition to Starcraft 2 that's for sure.

Right now with the amount of bugs existing... I'm going to wait on the judgement of balance right now. It's obviously in a rough spot if their most recent balance change was "reducing unit damage by 50%". But yeah, strategy seems rather poor at the moment..

You cant go into this looking for a full fledged RTS. I think you have to view it more as a mini game like DOTA. Actually who here played DoW? Thats prolly the best thing to compare it too.
I think you guys know that no one is a bigger proponent of base building and econ management than me :P
I had rather low expectations for C&C4 going into it. And while many of those doubts were valid I am still enjoying the team playing aspect. It really is fun to go roaming around the map with your team mates. Its just not an RTS.

That's part of why I don't want to judge balance. Ultimately it's the same mentality of going into DoW2 from DoW1. They removed a majority of the macromanagement when they removed the need to build a base. It actually split the playerbase instead of unifying it. Half wanted an "improved DoW1" while the others enjoyed the new twist. Ultimately, when they released "Last Stand" they did a neccessary step forward in reunifying.
Ultimately I think this will backfire for EA in terms of gameplay... only because they're changing the identity of a game that's SOOO ESTABLISHED right now. (Unlike DoW which had one installment) I don't know how the critics will judge this one... because the innovation they're attempting to achieve is already done at this time. _SO FAR_ this feels more like a UMS than a core gameplay scenario.. They'll improve that feel as they balance it further though, which is why I'm going to hold gameplay scenarios until later.

See why its so important to fight for macro in Starcraft 2 :)

Eh, Macro will stay, Blizzard is ensuring that it's part of the identity. The only issue is to find that core balance that works out heading into SC2 beta. Every time I hear people complain about beta delays, I think about how other companies push titles because the money-investors would rather follow trends instead of dedicate investment to evolving them (This game is a prime example of what a vast majority do. They create a small window of balance tweaking before pushing it to beta where they do core balancing. It's considered more efficient, but the ultimate results vary. I'm sure the balance we feel now is going to be VASTLY different than release.

True. I think that everyone who's complaining about SC2 beta should go on and play this junk.

I didn't play DoW2 but DoW1 was closer to Starcraft than this. I agree that even though it's complete garbage, one can have a bit of fun with the team play involved but still, just thinking about the fact that this game will probably be priced 50-60$ disgust me.

I was talking to Jack Doe this morning and he had a hilarious quote:
Jack Doe: I give the multiplayer version 2 months max to be fully ported into Galaxy after SC2's release.
I laughed out loud cause I bet he's right.

hmm, I tried it, username

Honestly, it seems pretty stupid. A single crawler with limited food ensures that you can only have one active front of battle, with extremely rare cases of two. Map control is stupid, because the incentives to move around are non-existent. Micro is non-existent because of unresponsive unit commands.

Ya know, my opinion of this game is poor... I'll be sincere. Today is supposedly a very large patch to it (revision 8 old -> Revision 10 new) and it gave me a sort of yearnful feeling....
One day... Battle.net will be open in front of me, and I'll be happy to see what the newest SC2 patch notes will be as I'm downloading.
Just a thought.

Its just so... simple. Its like they took RTS, removed everything, and added in nothing.

Well, actually, Revision 10 introduced some significant changes. I can see a semblance of the direction it's going... and I think that it could potentially work. The introduction of upgrade times is a good thing... that's for sure. Ultimately though, it's never going to be the caliper that SC2 will uphold.. but at least it's a level above the scum I viewed it as.
