Post your favorite manmade air-capable vehicle (or vehicles) and why you like it (or them). This includes all planes, helicopters, balloons, blimps, and anything else that can go airborne for a sustained period of time. They can be from any time period in history.

I think one of my most favorite is the SR-71 Blackbird.
It isn't much more than a high-altitude recon jet, but damn it's purdy.

If you hadn't posted the SR-71 n00bonicPlague, that would have been my vote.
It looked futuristic back in the mid 60's, and it still does today.

The SR-71 has also been a big influence on various original scifi space/aircraft designs that I've made over the years. (From a 2006 animation below)

So for the sake of not repeating SR-71 images, my second favorite is the russian SU-47.
The forward swept wings have that agressive looks + The insane maneuverability that usually comes with the Sukhoi planes.

Well DS, that's not what I intended, but I guess I should've clarified to mean 2009 and older.

I've noticed that he keeps forgetting to put something in the hide box.

But on topic:

Any of the current Sukhoi planes, especially the already mentioned Su-47 (http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/9268/su47cv6.jpg) and the Su-35 (http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_Su35b_KnAAPO_Pic_lg.jpg)

I like a lot of aircraft, but the de Havilland Mosquito has to be my favourite.

My favorites are already mentioned (Blackbird, B2 bomber)

But I can mention a nother funny little thing... The Russian K-7 Bomber
1930's, wingspan of 53 meters...

In reality thou, its the fake photos of it that intrigue me the most :P

The legendary "Strato Destroyer", have heard alot of it but never saw concepts of it.

Many weapons that where used during the world wars where never showed to the public due to ovbious reasons. That's another reason for the excistance of the Cold War. Governments looked for this prototypes all around the world. (they became lost within the seas or forests during take overs and attacks)

An example is the japanese submergible Air craft carrier (I-400), taken over by the USA during the second world war and lost in the seas during combat. According to an investigation the USA had no other choise than to sink the ships or else the japanese would recover them (3: I-4001, I-4002, I-4003).

Eventually the only "weapon" that was imidiatly showed to the public was the radar. Still, some believe that everthing the civilans know about weapons is at least from 20 years ago, like stealth bombers and inteligent weapons.

Another vote for the Blackbird here. That plane looks good. It's completely obsolete now, but the damn thing was impressive.
