I know, I know. Dead horse. But I'm just getting it now, so for me the horse is still alive and well. Which to get?
The question usually comes down to game selection, and I'm leaning to the PS3. The only XBOX exclusives that I want, that immediately come to mind, are Mass Effect and Gears of War. And I do want them... but the PS3's got a few solid games to balance this out for me (CoD4, Uncharted, Fallout, MGS, among others)... and then the free wifi and the Blue-Ray player.
Is my decision already made? Or are there some obvious factors I'm not taking into account?

I have the PS3 250GB Slim and I am happy with it.
Most Blu Ray readers are bit expensive and with PS3 you not only can watch movies in HD but you can also play good games.
BTW God of War I and II in HD re-made, God of War 3 in 2010 must have dude (I have the PS2 and I played those games, that game is the best), Killzone 2 great game.
And for me the PS3 has the better graphics but not much, my neighbour has a X360 and we did few comparison, hard to say.
I would recommend you to buy the PS3, I find it more awesome than the X360.

Just bear in mind that the 360 has like... a 40% failure rate - It has a way better online community though
-of course, those of us who know how to fix broken 360's don't have a problem with them :)

360 got all the JRPG so the hell with this PS3 (even though they are slowly porting every title to the ps3). I freaking love JRPG even though the most recent ones are not at the same level as the older ones (ie: Chrono Trigger vs Blue Dragon). Though honestly I just don't like much of the PS3 best exclusivity like:
-God of war III (first one was fun but I just got bored of chains of olympus and GoW II so I don't expect much of III)
-Little big planet and Ratchet (I'd rather go play any platformer that came out on the SNES) -Uncharted (it's pretty but that kind of story bore me)
-Valkyria Chronicle (I like JRPG but I hate Tactic JRPG, I kinda like the story though but that doesn't save the game for me)
-Resistance (I don't like Resistance much. I'd rather play Halo or gears of war)
So what's left? FF13Versus, White Knight Chronicle, MGS4 and Killzone2. I'd buy those but that's only 4 titles. There's more stuff for me on the 360.

If it has the red ring of death... it's fixable - http://xbox-scene.com/
check out the general hardware forum, I've fixed 2 RRoD boxes now.

This is the way I see it currently.
I've had 2 xbox 360's red ring and I currently have a working one with a XBL account...and I havent played it in a pretty long time.
I think as we head into the next year or so ps3 will just climb ahead of the xbox, the slim is awesome afterall. And as you said hte exclusives on the ps3 > xbox and you can get mass effect on the PC no?
PSN is free ( though not as good as the XBL but really I still find myself on there more)
The way I see it is, ps3 is the console to have now more than ever, its had a slow start but finally has gained a impressive lineup that will only continue to grow.
Plus I wouldnt want to swap disk on FF13 ;d

You can't play ps2 games on it, while on 360 you can play any xbox game. However, maybe thats just significant to me...
Also, CoD is on both systems, so it really doesnt balance anything out.

Well it would matter for me as well if I had Xbox games, but I don't... so it's kind of null.

Oops. :)

That's sort of the way I thought, too. Originally maybe I'd have gone with the XBOX crowd but right now it makes more sense to... do what I did... which is finally get a PS3. Couldn't get too many games to start, but I got my hands on Bioshock, Fallout 3 and Modern Warfare 2, which should tide me over for quite a while. :)
Thanks all for weighing in! Feel free to keep using the thread... or not...

I've only played the 360 and have no experience with the new Playstation. That said: Thousands have been banned from playing on the XBox (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8354166.stm).

Wtf... Did you ever think that maybe you are doing something wrong? Ps3 isnt even suppose to have the problems like 360, yet you've gone through 2.. weird...
You must be putting wool sweaters over your systems and rubbing them on the carpet before every game!

I believe the 360 numbers :P Microsoft tends to ship REPLACEMENTS with the ring of death... although according to sony, only 1% of ps3's fail

Just for a little love for the 360. I got mine in October 2007, and it has never failed me. It's the Halo version of the 360 if that makes a difference, but between Live and a good selection of games, I personally really enjoy it
