An awesome new YouTuber, GrumpyWizardRTS, put together a couple of comparison videos, showing off the new art assets

Remastered Terran Units: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MDhMT7-ago
Remastered Zerg Units: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9cg-5DFO0Y&t=1s
Remastered Protoss Units https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi8kPNsbzVA
Remastered Buildings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HeTo7YM74k
New Tilesets/Doo-Dads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlcNhiuZJ6M&t=192s

I think the most well-done piece of art in the remaster is actually the new space platform tileset. For the most part, it actually makes you feel like you're on a space platform, and it's largely quite faithful. I don't like a lot of the new Zerg units/buildings, and i'd much prefer they look slimy/gross like the original.

How so?

imo, they are better lit and are a bit more pointy. Probably the most distinct of changes can be seen on the lurker's feet. They added some white detail and a bit more dust/dirt/grit. Some other spikes now have specular lights to show the edges, just like in armor.

They did a fantastic job with the hatchery, but then they added a black contour to the whole building that I really dislike. Blue and Green are from remastered trailer, Red is from your post.

In some other cases it's the same sprite, but it trully looks great in HD. Lurker's attack spikes and sunken colony building spikes and attack.

We can clearly see the three art styles that went into the extractor, the hatchery and the godly spore colony (holy shit it looks fantastic).

Then we have other structures that capture the slimy theme through animation. The greater spire membrane vs the extractor's "dry glue" tingle (3:10). The greater spire looks organic and very much alive, while the extractor looks like a reanimated bone contraption with a clay underfoot.

IMO they need to add ridges into that "pit wall" make it more lifelike and bind the flesh to the bone structures. concept**

I am in favor of keeping the #ff0000 colored blood in the game, it does feel like SC with the red spatters; but things like the zerg extractor break down when enhanced into HD. So does the Hydralisk den by breaking the continuity between the "peacock veil" and the prolapsed guts so abrubtly.
