So I found out this morning that David Kim had left SC2's team, apparently to work on something else (not sure if within Blizzard), what do you guys make of this change?

I think, "Meh."
I don't think there's many major balance changes left in SC2. Better to do something else.

I'm relieved. SC2 needs a designer that knows how to listen, and grounded. Less prone to fanciful ideas, practical, logical, and having the element of earth running through his veins.

He sucked anyway, lol.

He made really great concept art.
That being said, meh.

Uh, what? He's a game designer, not an artist.
I think SC2 is done in terms of overall game design changes so it makes sense for people not to be working on it. I bet internally they're experimenting with ideas that could ultimately turn into WC4, and he'll be working on it along with Dustin Browder. We'll see in like 5 years how that goes.

All I know is, I've seen pretty pictures with his name on the bottom. Given that they were complicated, non-poly pics, probably they existed for concept art purposes.

Hmm, have any links? I don't remember seeing any of those, but now I want to

My thought exactly. Some kind of RTS is most likely being designed right now and since SC3 would be "too soon" by regular Blizzard standards, I'd have to guess it would have to be WC4 or something new entirely. Maybe a Starcraft mobile/cross-platform spinoff? After the success of hearthstone, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd try something new on smartphones. Thinking more on this, an Overwatch mobile spinoff would probably work really well right now.

There's no way Starcraft's next game will be an RTS, its by far their weakest IP and the franchise needs a shakeup before it returns to its RTS territory, as sad as it may be.

Go back to making ghost?
but if they do some MOBA/MMO shit with it, I will declare war on Blizzard.
the only MMO type thing I could tolerate is if they do what they do best and rip off of something like Planetside 2.
instead of three factions it's three races and instead of fighting over Auraxis it's fighting over the famous worlds in the saga.
also go back to SC1 art design, none of that SC2 playskool shit.

...And now that I mention it, I can't find it. *sigh* I had some saved on my old computer, but the hard drive died.

I missed you, Kaiser. A lot.

Blizzard won't greenlight anything that doesn't have potential for Esports. The next Diablo game is already being made and they'll have the development team's heads if it doesn't have a robust PvP system. The next Starcraft game will almost certainly be multiplayer only and will have a steady revenue stream a la crates or packs or w/e.
It could be a First Person shooter too, they do have one in the works (https://careers.blizzard.com/en-us/openings/oLqV4fwU). And if its not a game centered around esports the next thing you could/would expect is a Borderlands type co-op loot hunting Starcraft game.

And that's when me and this franchise will have to part ways.
Guess SC1 will be the only real SC game for awhile longer if they pull that silliness.

Random question: I just played against a Protoss with 500 APM (exactly). Is there some new APM/micro hack or something? He went Phoenix and has excellent lift micro.

I once fought against someone. Roamed the entire map with my drone and found nothing. Later, a swarm of Zealots came at my base.
I went back to my first scouting position, and lo and behold the protoss base magically appeared. It was like an arbiter was there or aldaris himself was cloaking the entire base.

Now THIS I could actually get behind. Adding a Blizzard flare to Borderlands would be worthy of the universe, the series, and the old company. Assuming it was done right.
