So... Finally, we are starting to see some of the silverlining of the campaign... I'm still hyped, but I suck at playing SC2.

"Whispers of Oblivion"? I thought it'd be more apt calling it Tidings of Doom (I say, doom, boy) given the focus is on Zeratul.
Oh, and that's not Amon, VoK. It's a newspaper..... I'll see myself out.

Ah. In that case, where you failed is that the original joke is "what's black and white and re(a)d all over," but the Amon image lacks white.

I'm excited for the campaign, particularly because of the high tech goodies.
I'm really curious how they are going to do army customization for protoss....terran may have been a bit overboard with what units you can make, and zerg very constrictive (having to choose between broodlord and viper pissed me off for example).
so far its a choice of which tribe version of a unit is brought in- blink zealots or....cleaving zealots? blink stalker or steamplow with dragoon, maybe heavy specialist voidrays or mobile scouts (so long as scouts can handle taking down armored units well too).....attack on the move pheonix or....aoe corsairs? I'm gonna be bothered if u have to choose between the suicide orbs or colossus.

Yeah, I was hinging too much on the assumption that that thing (if it really is Amon) being "re(a)d all over" was going to be enough to carry it cos otherwise it'd be too clunky if I had to spell it out (the "what's black and white..." part not really necessary cos I'm alluding to the original joke not making the original joke) and it'd not make much sense as you said (that thing that could be Amon not having any white on it). Huh, I guess that's why I'd make for a crappy comedian...

I looks too much like a protoss for it to be amon (...i think) Is it possible that its another protoss (not taldarim, but a different tribe) who has sided with amon?

That's what I'm thinking, partly because the character model seems to have been thrown together rather than being the product of several conceptual stages, like the other characters. I'm thinking it's a Tal'Darim leader who is close to Amon Amarth himself. But it's uncanny how closely he resembles the Amon model from HotS.

Warcraft III had "NPC races" like the naga and Forsaken. I hope the protoss factions are like this. I'd like to face an extremist Dark Templar faction, and a Tal'darim faction, and maybe a Judicator faction...
I wonder if Ulrezaj and the Guardians of the Xel'Naga Temple of Shakuras will be back.

Because that's what they always do isn't it? Blizzard's trailers are amazing but when it comes to their games, they're always let down. Even Warlords of Draenor had an amazing trailer but it's probably one of their most underwhelming expansions.
I think Blizzard should become a trailer company.

There's a smorgus board of bad things that were in warlords: horrid launch day, aggravating gearing system (to be ready for raid content), but it was not a "let down". great quests, storyline, better pvp, fun dungeons, garrisons- great passtime.

But the thing hasn't come out yet. I just thought you had some special insight/somehow played it when you made that initial comment. I now know you're pre-judging it based on their recent history (I mean this in the most neutral manner possible - I'm not saying this to point fingers or cast aspersions because really, I'm guilty of pre-judging, too!).

Hm, so we're invading a Moebius Foundation facility experimenting on Protoss. I'm pretty convinced at this point that the Shadow Corps is the militarized branch of Moebius. Not only that, but they're under the direct control of Amon/the Voice in the Darkness, similar to the possessed Moebius team on the KL-2 planet.
Also note, the KL-2 world exploded. Whelp, it's been good knowing you, Shakuras.

If the Shadow Corp are part of Moebius, are under Amon or Duran/Narud's command, have access to such wonderful tech and are powerful enough to give the Protoss pause, I'm kinda curious as to why they didn't just go dig up the artifacts in WoL themselves earlier.

Haha.
Well, I'm late to this party. Uh, the trailer just looks like more 'splosions and badly designed Protoss. Just like the other trailers. I'm actually sort of excited there's going to be some pre-missions, though. It means there's going to be more story. This is particularly important, since the Protoss were almost completely absent from the previous two games, and we learned nothing about any of the 'Toss we care about. Granted, I'm probably going to rage pretty hard when the story does come out, but that's how I enjoy stuff, anyway.

I hear they're gonna focus on Zeratul in those pre-missions and I'm hoping he gets a better treatment than the first time we saw him in WoL. I don't think I can stand being any more embarrassed for Z if his current portrayal remains the same.
...and we learned nothing about any of the 'Toss we care about.
I wouldn't say nothing. We learnt what Z was doing all that time and that he may or may not have developed some form of Protoss Alzheimer's disease. That and Tassadar being still alive and all. Not to mention all the prophecy/cycle/Amon stuff... Oh, I guess that's stuff we give don't really care or give a 'Toss about, amirites? :p

I don't trust their ability to play Zer, but I'll at least have fun criticizing it.

I said we didn't learn anything about the Protoss we care about. I couldn't care less about new Zeratul, and the most interesting thing about Tassadar was that he was inexplicably voiced by Michael Dorn. I like to think it's because Gough wouldn't say those dumb lines.

Even when talking about the angels and demons. On the battlefield... of Eteeeerrrrnity?
I'd say it was because they wanted a little more star power for their game; but with Tricia Helfer, and absolutely no mention of Worf in any media, I find that unlikely now.

Yeah, my vote is artistic integrity. We all love Gough and Glynnis, but they're very familiar with what made Starcraft so great in the first place. They'd be very unhappy with the retcons made with their characters (Clotworthy toughed it out, I guess). Actually, I don't know. Gough did come back for Heroes of the Storm, so it might have been scheduling on his part. Also, I heard a rumor that they didn't like Glynnis' voice in original Starcraft. I don't know why.

Huh? If not Zeratul or Tassadar (their "newness" in Sc2 aside), who are the mainline Protoss characters, there are no other Protoss we really care about (from the knowledge of the games only that is) aside from Artanis. We actually did learn new stuff about Z and T/the Protoss we care about - it's just that no-one really cared for the new stuff we learnt about them.
Also, I heard a rumor that they didn't like Glynnis' voice in original Starcraft. I don't know why.
Probably not sexy enough? God knows why they'd want to associate allure with a hideous and mutated creature that is Kerrigan in the first place though.
I think the real reason is that Glynnis wasn't onboard with Blizz' direction of having Kerrigan fawn over Raynor. She had mentioned in the past that their relationship was more of comrade-in-arms type of thing rather than some overtly romantic one.
Gradius

Glynnis tried out and they ultimately didn't pick her. We had a farewell article to her on SCL before WoL came out.
I think Metzen just wanted to hang out with Worf and Number 6. It probably satisfied a deep-seated nerd fetish of his.
Turalyon
06-23-2015, 08:27 AM
^ It's kinda funny still. In one of the lore panels SCL covered in 2007, there was mention of Metzen wanting another guy to do Raynor in Sc2 instead of Clotworthy because he was closer to what he originally envisioned and yet we got Clotworthy in the end anyway. Then again, it also said they liked Glynnis' voice when she came back to test at the time, too.
Have you all seen the new designs for what seem to be the Tal'darim? I'm really hoping that once you fully 'convert' a tribe or group, you gain the ability to unlock their building appearances for additional bonuses. If that was the case then they would add a LOT more playability, since I'd go through and want to play as every tribe each time.

I just hope they don't make the Judicator all jerks this time. I'm sick of them being extra-cranky, shallow clones of Aldaris.
Let's brainstorm some lines that Zeratul will say in the prologue missions! :p
"The cycle has been broken...!"
"I must find the last fragments of the Prophecy... before it is too late."
"Amon has returned!"
"Kerrigan...?"
