This comedian bought a ticket to see the new star trek movie on IMAX, paying the extra money, and walked in to find out it wasn't that much bigger than a regular theater. However, he paid the price they charge for the big IMAX theater.

I like how the CEO tries to use an analogy that makes very little sense, check it out:

The theaters however, are charging the same price for "fake" digital IMAX as they do for "real" film-based IMAX.

IMAX co-CEO Richard Gelfond argued that such a distinction is unnecessary because, "People don't say 'The 3 isn't a real BMW because it's smaller.'"

lol... seriously, we wont be mad if we pay for real IMAX tickets, and get fake IMAX? WTF?

Uh... well, "real" IMAX is recorded on 70 mm film, while Star Trek was filmed on 35 mm film. They just use the DRM (Digital Re-Mastering) process to blow the 35mm film up to the size of the theater's screen.

So you still got an overall large screen and some pumped-up sound, for what its worth (double the standard ticket price?).

If you see IMAX and DRM together, you ain't getting IMAX.
