View Full Version : Forum crapping its pants

Aside from the issues discussed in this thread, I have two new ones to report.

When trying to view the thread "Crimson Moon (single-player campaign) (http://sclegacy.com/forums/showthread.php?15287-Crimson-Moon-(single-player-campaign))", I came across this problem:

It says there are nine replies, but the thread says there are three more than that (at the time I took the screencaps, anyways).

Additionally, I can't access the second page - it just resets me to the first page when I click on it.

/e Also, upon posting the thread:

A similar 'database error' was presented upon making new posts and editing existing posts.

I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but when you enter a specific forum to check for new posts, the page doesn't seem to reflect or show that there are any new posts. Refreshing the page doesn't help.

I can only only be assured of seeing and accessing these new posts by checking the "last post" column for each forum on the forum homepage.

Same here. Also, I cannot check beyond page 1 of a thread that I click on. (I can't follow the Lore Q&A thread beyond page 1.)

When I make a post, I get an error message, but that doesn't actually delete the post.

Notes: I have the most recent version of Firefox, NOScript, an adblocker, and Ghostery. It's possible there's some allergic reaction between those and SCLegacy.

I'm pretty sure most of us are having this problem.

We have been working on this issues. We would like to know how it's working now.

The site seems to be working much better. Before, this is what usually happened:

1. Database error when trying to post, though it still shows up if you refresh/go back a page.
2. Database error when trying to edit posts.
3. Threads not showing up when updated, even if I haven't viewed them while logged in yet.
4. Some threads listed as having "0" replies no matter how many replies there actually are.

Plus a few related to moderating. I never encountered Kimera's problem when viewing threads.

Though, I haven't had a database error for posting today. I also haven't seen a case of issue 4 today either.

E: Just tried editing the post. It works but you have to open the page again to see the changes. Otherwise it gets stuck in loading and nothing happens.

I can visit the extra pages now. (There might not be much point, due to the negativity in all lore threads these days, but at least some functionality has returned.)

And now that I've made a post, I haven't seen any issues when making a post either.

On the "Site Issues/Feedback" page, this says (at the time of this posting) that there are six replies (accurate) and that the last contributor was Kimera757 (accurate). However, the thread below, "Homepage and rest of the site, except forum, not accessible", claims it has 0 replies (it has two) and lists the OP as the final contributor (not true).

I think maybe only threads that have been updated since the recent changes are in fact being affected.

When trying to view the thread "Crimson Moon (single-player campaign)", I came across this problem:

I inadvertently posted twice in that thread, the second time because I thought a glitch prevented my first post from going through. I've emptied my cache, marked all forums as read, and still have this problem.

Moreover, every time I make a post I get an error massage; though reloading the page shows the new post.

EDIT I've started getting THIS message just today. (Added as attachment.)

Please hit the "Mark Forums Read" button at the bottom of the forum home page and let us know about any changes.

This didn't seem to change anything :( It's working okay for my purposes, though.

Alright, while there are still some problems, we've found a way around some issues:

Go to the top of the page and find the "forum actions" tool.
Then, click on general settings and increase the posts per page to 30.
Save this option and hit the "mark forums read" button.
Change your posts per page back to "forum default".

This should "fix" the errors associated with browsing threads (such as invisible pages and posts).

Thanks, Blade, the workaround's helping a lot.

Out of curiosity, when is SCLegacy site coming back up?
