I apologize profusely if this has been posted before, but I've not seen it anywhere here, which surprises me. I chose off-topic because it includes Diablo and WarCraft.

Of special note is the surprisingly feminine model of Diablo appearing on some of the screens... Wonder whether that counts as a spoiler.

My hypothesis is that the cultists salvage what's left of Diablo, Mephisto and Baal and fuse them together in the host of Leah de Soto, the girl in the announcement trailer, as a way of birthing their own god. She becomes the new embodiment of The Three. It's all very Silent Hill.

Very possible, would be one hell of a way to end the game if Leah is a character you get emotionally attached to.

And now that I think about it, those tendril like arms he has do resemble Mephisto's physiology.

The Demon does bear characteristics of all of the Three. Then again, a lot of lesser demons resemble parts or all of the Brothers. I was against the merger idea at first, but my hypothesis puts a new spin on it. Heh, for all I know Diablo "cannibalized" his brothers to survive.
