View Full Version : Website Feedback (huge images warning)

I understand the huge amount of free work that everyone contributed to the site, and everyone may be burnt out about it but I have to voice my opinions because I do care about the community and the future of SCL if it is to be a success.

I am using a huge 1600x1200 screen and still there are problems with the website:

Front Page:
Red - art assets (none useful information)
Blue - useful information

Easily can tell you this website isn't meant for info. Quick glance of the site, 75% of it is art, whilst very little is used to convey the actual information, this design fails badly.

I've included the un-intuitive right column navigation system because it is simply too confusing to use and mousing over every part of the Protoss just to see which menu items is something you should've learned in UI design 101.

This is even more problematic. Notice how little space is being used to actually show the forum?

Although quick fixes are capable for this issue, ie remove the side bars, make the top menu MUCH smaller and more useful, and make the forum take up rest of the site.

Another area problem, there are very huge post separating iamges that really detract from reading. Notice how these posts one single lines yet my 1200px height can only display 4 posts!

Most of these were conscious design decisions. We chose to have art take up a large part of the site. Art in our layout has been a large part of our history. However, we'll take your suggestions into consideration as we move forward with our fixes and changes.

I think scaling this for 16:9 would solve the problem.

Alternatively, everyone can just copy+paste Wankey's pictures at the start of their post to get extra broad posts. :D

scl was never ment for too much information XD

love the way they manage the interface... keep in mind this is a... BETA? ALPHA?

still got to agree with u on the menus but only in the part its hard to guide yourself through a group of menus that have NOT been finished

and ya forums might need to get resized

I agree with Wankey that mousing over the Protoss to navigate the site is time consuming and confusing, but in general I really like the new layout. I enjoy the emphasis on art.

The navigation system related to the protoss is still in the works. Everything about that thing is still in the works.

We know that it needs a way to see menu options without having to mouseover, and it will come with time.

Thanks for the constructive critisim :)
