StarCraft: Legacy is a premier North American StarCraft fansite that is known for professionalism, depth, and quality in writing news, editorials, and features. Ten years old, our fansite is one of the oldest in the community. In our long, storied history, we have evolved as an entity. Our passion to produce and publish intelligent, insightful content for the community underpins our endeavours. Today, we stalk the title of being of being the most professional voice in the community. These objectives are reflected in our staffing initiatives.
What We Look For in Team Members
We are committed to excellence. Consequently, the phrase, “talent and hard work” represents the qualities we look for in team members. In addition, the most important quality you can possess is reliability. It is our experience that a consistent, committed team member will continuously meet, and exceed, our ambitious expectations. StarCraft: Legacy is a team environment, so team members must be able to rely on each other. Our management structure, pipeline, and editing process are collaborative; as a result, the ability to work in teams is a requirement of all positions. In addition, willingness to apply feedback in a timely manner is important.

Content
The content team is responsible for providing information, opinion, connections, and media regularly throughout the week. Content team members write, edit, and publish the latest news and articles; they produce features (e.g. Pimpest Plays, Legacy Weekly, etc.) and report events (e.g. BlizzCon, Worldwide Invitational, Irvine press releases, etc.) regularly throughout the year.
We try to provide depth, detail, and quality production in a community that requires speed. (Please see our June 22 Press Release coverage for an example of our timed work.) Clear, concise writing styles and grammatical skills are required for this precise, timely coverage. Knowledge of the revision and editing process is important, for you should be able to “catch” the majority of your errors before post-production, peer editing. Furthermore, main page news production demands accurate, appropriate posting the first time. In addition, you need to be reliable, able to communicate, and independent.
Content positions are generalist; team members are able to work on a number of projects in a variety of areas. However, we have added a number of specializations to our content team positions. These specializations provide focus for critical areas of our coverage, and they are outlined below.
News
The news staff are responsible for ensuring a consistent, timely flow of information on the main page. You will be required to monitor Blizzard Entertainment, the StarCraft community, the Blizzard community (major developments), and, in a lesser extent, the gaming industry as a whole. Specifically, you will need to monitor the releases, projects, insights, and viral interests of Blizzard and the StarCraft community. Knowledge with a variety new media, such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, is an asset.
Main page news production requires accurate, effective posting skills. You must be capable planning, writing, and publishing high-quality, error-free posts that commentates, quotes, and sources news throughout the community. Consequently, this position emphasizes clear, concise writing and grammar.

Lore
Lore writers are responsible for producing high-quality articles and features primarily for the single player community.
Extensive understanding and interest in the storyline and lore of the StarCraft universe is essential. In addition, clear, concise writing styles and grammatical skills are required to produce content consistently. Professionalism and writing quality are the goals of the content team, and these objectives are emphasized in the feature articles produced regarding lore. We consider feature articles as our strength, so we look to continue providing depth, quality, and insight to the community at large.

Strategy
Strategy team members are responsible for writing articles about strategy, the competitive community, and ongoing events that are relevant to melee players. In addition, team members will assist in the planning and implementation of tournaments for both the casual and competitive melee players.
Competitive experience and knowledge of the competitive community, such as people, organizations, and commentators, is required. Strategy team members must demonstrate a strong grasp of the competitive StarCraft community, for the articles and events produced by the team must be credible throughout the well-established, respected competitive community. Consequently, professionalism and legitimacy are important goals of the strategy team and strategy writes in particular.

Coding
Web Developer
HTML, CSS, and PHP are required. Be prepared to learn to design for and use Joomla. Prior knowledge of and experience with Joomla and Wordpress is an asset. Also, knowledge of vBulletin is an asset. You will be responsible for constructing and maintaining databases, websites, etc. on a project by project basis. You must be reliable; there are no exceptions to this. You will be required to collaborate with other programming staff to complete projects. Organizational skills, such as understanding version tracking code, are an asset.

Graphics
Graphical Artist
Our graphical team produces high quality works, such as the artwork for SCLegacy.com, “StarCraft: First Contact”, and the works below. We look for passion and talent. We welcome any form of graphical talent, and will generate projects based on our staff. Specifically, we are in need of a artist capable of creating graphical elements and website layouts.

Layout Artist
Occasionally, complex content requires the development of modules and graphics that are independent of the site; consequently, we are looking for designers who are capable of planning, implementing, and publishing graphical layouts. You will be responsible for designing and implementing multi-part graphical pieces for highlight projects.
While we will attempt to provide a clear, concise environment for your design, the realities of a large organization require you to function effectively in a design-by-committee atmosphere. However, the layout design process is largely independent, so you must be able to meet deadlines to ensure a positive environment for your creativity to flourish.

No, staff members volunteer because they are passionate about StarCraft and dedicated to the community.
Is there an age requirement to be staff?
No, there is no age requirement to be a team member. However, you must be able to act maturely while interacting with both team and community members.

You’ll be involved in a leading StarCraft website that connects with Blizzard Entertainment regularly. Consequently, it is likely that you will know what is coming before many people.
