StarCraft II
In light of the release of StarCraft II, MSNBC.com posted on their front page a lengthy article about the popularity of the StarCraft franchise, and StarCraft II's inheritance of a global fanbase.
Indeed, "StarCraft" was embraced the world over with a stunning zeal. Not only did the first game sell an absurd number of copies — more than 11 million worldwide — it became the foundation for an international spectator sport.
Part of what made the game such a hit was the fact that although "StarCraft" was relatively easy to pick up, it was so deep that after years of playing it, gamers were still discovering tricks and strategies.
It is great to know that the mainstream media has recognized the release of StarCraft II, and their serious efforts to report to gamers and non-gamers about the StarCraft phenomena. With StarCraft II making front-page news, it's more than likely that other mainstream articles will follow, hopefully with the thorough and informative nature as this one. Articles like these can attract new players and new fans, so that the StarCraft: Legacy will continue to live on.
