Blue Posts, 2010 Beta not just Russia, Twitter Updates, Brutalisk Revealed

Written by Gifted  | Thursday, 12 November 2009 08:00

News - StarCraft II

A plan that hatched on our very own forums by Santrega has provided confirmation that the 2010 beta announcement at the IgroMir 2009 expo is a worldwide scope and not limited to the Russia phase. Xordiah took notice of the thread and provided a verbose discussion, akin to when she came to the US forums to reply regarding the incorrectly speculated Friends and Family Alpha.  She first explains Chris Sigaty's IgroMir announcement.

He was talking about beta in general and not specifically about a Russian beta. :)

About Mike Morhaime contradicting that. Where did you read it? Don't remember him saying anything other that the development team is working hard towards beta - which they in fact are. This does not contradict Chris' statement though.

She also decides to make a point that the original poster's reply to the post is indeed correct as he speculated.

'The OP is a respectful post asking for a simple answer, and the thread title is clear. I think this is the best chance we have to get an answer here. I'm holding out hope that blizzard does care about its community still, and will eventually come around and give the clarification we want.'

This!

Following up on her previous one word quote, she elaborates how this and potentially other posts get their attention.

It won't always be possible, but respectful and clear postings with a good title will always have a better chance of getting answers. Which is not to say they have a 100% chance of getting one. ;)

Then there is discussion regarding a reason which contributes to a beta release in 2010.

I am aware and he is absolutely correct in what he is saying. I think everyone here in the forums is aware of why it is taking so long even if you are impatient with us because of it. I'll give you a hint: It has something to do with our second core value. :)

For those who did not understand her cryptic phrase, she provides clarity on the matter to avoid further confusion by some.

Well, it is a matter of quality. We do not want to show you guys stuff that does not meet our quality expectations. We don't want even the beta testers to be anything other than excited and amazed by the gaming experience. Battle.net is as much part of that gaming experience as the core game is. Our development teams are working hard on getting it out, but you will have to wait until we are ready and we are happy with it before we get it out there.

She finally confirms why it is harder for them to give updates at this time and the typical reaction given when it is given.

'Just give us some updates, anything. I'm honestly, sincerely happy you've finally come out and confirmed this, but the sooner you become consistent, the sooner these forums clear up.'

It is hard to give updates, when all updates that you have to give are small and insignificant ones compared to the update you really want to know about - beta and release. Any update we gave got shouted down by a wave of: "Who cares, give us beta". ;)

Further blue posts by Xordiah touches on some artwork and website updates which was foreshadowed on their twitter feed yesterday.

We're actually preparing some website updates for you at the moment to give you some cool new content to help with the wait for beta. Until we get that out, why don't you post some cool artworks you know - official or fanart. There is some pretty cool artworks out there already. A cool fanart I found recently: http://oxoxoxo.deviantart.com/art/Terran-Marine-StarCraft-II-80010854

In a third thread, she elaborates how smart casting with Psi Storm would be performed.

Only one High Templar will cast at that location when you have a group of High Templars selected and cast Psi Storm. You'd have to give a second order to have another storm go off or chain the storms by using shift and then clicking the different locations you want the Psi Storms to hit.

Line Break

The StarCraft twitter page has been a great platform for Blizzard to ask its fans their opinions on features, gameplay and expectations. It has also provided solid spotlights in sites and artists in the community. Periodically you'll see updates on their progress within it as well. Notable tweets, including a picture of the elusive Brutalisk, may be found below.

We are currently working to update several portions of the #StarCraft2 website which are almost complete.

The single player campaign mode will have some surprise custom units which we think you'll enjoy. http://bit.ly/4dWphk

#StarCraft2 We have begun work on revamping mission briefings with some new dialogue.

The Brutalisk Reveals Itself!
