I mean, the marine is all alone being the only reactor unit in the barracks, while the other 3 require tech labs in addition to another building. The hellion being the only reactor unit in the factory is okay since the factory only produces three units. The starport has a whopping 5 units, 2 of which are reactor units. Also, the reaper feels like a unit that you should be able to amass relatively with it being a unit that takes 1 supply. Maybe they could bring back the merc compound as a prerequisite building for the reapers to compensate?

Well, they wouldn't be able to make it a reactor unit WITHOUT the merc compound requirement.

I sort of agree, but it'd require some pretty large changes.

I'd be fine with Reapers as a Reactor unit, if they required the Merc Haven and dropped like flies to anything that even looked at them funny.

I do feel that the marine is a little lonely though... but duel reapers- I can't think of that not being overly strong in the early game.

Good idea imo. It would take a bit of balancing (like increase reaper build time a tiny bit) but I think it's a good idea. This would give terrans the option to get a quick reaper force at any moment in exchange for tons of gas.

edit: it might be a problem at lower levels though, dunno

It would be way too OP. Some claim that even now reapers are OP.
However, you're right - the marine is indeed lonely there, but there isn't any unit they can put there without making it OP.
Anyway, I think that the reactor should be used only in the start of the game for the barracks, and then people should move the barracks and use the reactor for the factory or starport. So having the marine as the only barracks-reactor unit isn't too bad imo.

You know, you could always nerf the Reaper if it's too OP with the reactor.

Sheesh, some of you act as if the TC is suggesting to port the reaper full of OPness to the reactor. Use some logic.

Yeah but since you'd be getting them twice as fast you'd have to make them almost half as powerful. It's a terrible idea IMO.

Yeah, I was thinking that this was a terrible idea too. I was merely pointing out the one sided thought process of some of the people here.

Anyway, I really would prefer reapers to be a strong 'not massed like marines' unit.

But then again, another suggestion could be to ramp up the gas cost so that production could be faster but the cost would be higher to prevent early mass. Or, ramp up the production time, possibly food cost. There's many things that could be applied instead of just halving the power of the unit.

I agree with your general sentiment. You can balance just about anything, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea.
