    Default Terran factions

I'm wondering what is your favorite Terran faction?

    Kel-Morian Combine

The Kel-Morian Combine is the name of the terran faction controlling the planet Moria. The Kel-Morian Combine is commanded by General Mah Sakai. Its militia color is green (teal in-game).
It has its own Ghost Program.
When the Terran Confederacy was founded, the Morian colony, which had benefited from having the largest resource mining operations in the Koprulu Sector, began to fear that this new Confederacy might attempt to move in and regulate their lucrative operations. Thus the Kel-Morian Combine was formed from two powerful organizations: the Kelanis Guild and the Morian Mining Coalition; a shady, corporate partnership that would supply military aid to any Mining Guild that was oppressed by Confederate policy. Led by General Mah Sakai, the two groups also banded together in order to maximize their ability to drain the resources from the numerous worlds within the sector.

Tensions heated up as the Confederacy continually stole Kel-Morian mining operations from locations such as the Paladino Belt and the world of Sonyan, actions internally justified that the Combine was composed of pirates and other criminals. In turn, the Combine became increasingly antagonistic towards the Confederacy over its actions.

    Umojan Protectorate

The Umojan Protectorate is a neutral protectorate whose base of operations is on Umoja. Its commander is Minister Jorgensen and it is also led by the Umojan Ruling Council.
    Its militia color is aqua.
The Protectorate seeks a truce with the protoss, believing that the elder race can teach them the mysteries of the greater meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

The Protectorate may have a reputation for extremely effective methods of collecting information. They used these abilities to assist Arcturus Mengsk of the Sons of Korhal in tracking down persons of interest. In addition, they stole the information on the Thor Project from the Terran Dominion during the StarCraft II era.
The Protectorate has its own Ghost Program

At the end of the Guild Wars in 2489, the Umojan colony, after seeing what blatant abuse the Terran Confederacy was capable of when it annexed almost all of the Kel-Morian Combine's supporting mining guilds into its holdings, and becoming aware of the murder of Angus Mengsk, founded the Umojan Protectorate. This nationalized militia would work to keep its colony free from Confederate tyranny. A strong military force, the Protectorate keeps other factions from interfering in Umojan affairs.
The Umojans continued their alliance with Arcturus Mengsk's Korhalian army, and their duties included protecting his son (and the grandson of Umojan ambassador Ailin Pasteur) Valerian Mengsk.
In 2491 the Confederacy decimated Korhal and its population with a massive nuclear barrage. The Umojans continued to support the remnants of the movement, the Sons of Korhal, allowing citizens to sign up as soldiers.
After the Terran Confederacy was overthrown and the Sons of Korhal became the Terran Dominion, the Umojan Protectorate rallied to Emperor Mengsk's banner along with almost all other terran factions.

    Terran Dominion

The Terran Dominion, sometimes simply known as the Dominion, was created shortly after the fall of the Confederacy at the height of the war between the terrans, the zerg and the protoss from the Sons of Korhal and many other terran factions. It is an empire headed by former Sons of Korhal leader Arcturus Mengsk. Korhal IV is the throne world of the Dominion.

The roots of the Terran Dominion spring from the Rebellion of Korhal, a "terrorist" faction which emerged when the Terran Confederacy put down a rebellion against them on the world of Korhal. The Confederate attempts to weaken the Rebellion backfired when they slew its first leader; Arcturus Mengsk became its new leader and was even more effective. When Mengsk forged an alliance with the Umojan Protectorate, the Confederates destroyed the world of Korhal using nuclear weaponry. Mengsk renamed the Rebellion the Sons of Korhal. The rebel movement fought against the Confederacy, allying themselves with former Confederacy Alpha Squadron leader General Edmund Duke and eventually destroying it using psionic devices to lure the zerg to the Confederate homeworld of Tarsonis. This action alienated two good-hearted Sons of Korhal officers, Sarah Kerrigan and Jim Raynor. The former was abandoned to the zerg on a space platform over Tarsonis while the latter defected with a rebel movement.

The successful destruction of Tarsonis caused the fall of the Confederacy. Most Confederate survivors joined the Sons of Korhal, including the remaining Confederate squadrons, which were forcefully conscripted, giving the Dominion military supremacy. The former rebels saved many terran lives, but refused to assist worlds that did not welcome their intervention, as Mengsk remarked that the planet's local government had ultimate authority on that planet.

It was during this period that Jim Raynor's Raiders launched a daring raid on the Dylarian Shipyards, hoping to steal enough ships to move far from Mengsk. General Edmund Duke had been sent by Mengsk in the flagship, the Hyperion, in order to prevent the assault, but the Raiders prevailed, stealing the flagship and numerous other vessels. Duke was left behind, alive but tied up. Mengsk's government suffered a defeat before it could even declare itself.
    Initial Dominion insignia

Mengsk announced that a new government, the Terran Dominion, was necessary to keep watch over the terran worlds asking for help. He promised victory over the aliens.

For the first time, all of the terran colonies within the Koprulu Sector (including Umoja and Moria) were united under one sovereign ruler. A few exceptions, such as Raynor's Raiders and an elite commando squad led by one Samir Duran remained outside its control.

The Dominion government became based out of Augustgrad, the capital of the throne world of Korhal IV. The Dominion set up a powerful defense grid on Korhal consisting of battlecruisers, nukes and other deterrents.

I feelt like discusing some lore, so i'm wondering what is your favorite Terran faction?
And feel free to post any suggestions or predictions on these three factions actions in SC2.

Umojan Protectorate. They're smart enough to know that they can learn a few things from the Protoss.

Though the Kel-Morian's mining guilds, greediness & wealth is also compelling.

Pretty hard to make the call since we don't get much information on the other 2 factions. But anyway...

    I voted for the Kel-Morians.

Simply because I love their name, and the fact that they designed the Goliath, one of my favourite units.

I for myself like the Umojan Protectorate the most they are wise to want to ally with the protoss, and they have a great color (aqua), but it was a hard choice since, if you would choose Kel-Morian Combine , you would start every game mission with an automatic 10,000 Minerals :P

I voted UP, as we know a little about them due to I, Mengsk.

Does anybody perhaps know, how these 3 factions stand with Raynor?

The KMC likes Raynor (info from the comic).

The UP would probably get along with Raynor, as neither like Mengsk, but we haven't heard anything abut that.

    The Dominion harasses Raynor.

I am offended that no one put up Nova Squadron.
I mean they are personally my favorite.
Every one should a fear an Army that consists of Purple.

I would also assume more ghosts originate from there than any other.
People would call them secret police.
    I however do not.
I believe they deal with Intel/Espionage missions.

They are like surgical precision weapons.
Not always in the battle field, but are used frequently behined the scenes.

So my vote goes to NOVA!

I myself am distressed by the lack of Confederacy and UED options, even though the UED might not count. However my vote goes to the Combine.
