Thread: Turned-Vased RPGs?

    Default Turned-Vased RPGs?

So I played the StarCraft arcade game Rogue Star, and it sent me way back in time; to an ancient land of grids and spells and stats.

Being the poor working man that I am, do any of you have any good online/free/cheap turn-based RPG games you might suggest? I'm trying to play Final Fantasy Tactics on this site, but it's slow as hell.
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

Given that Japan died around 2005, and they were the manufacturers of turn-based RPGs, just emulate some good ol' classics. I can recommend you up a storm since I've played damn near all of them (yes, really)

Although if you're talking about Final Fantasy Tactics-type games, we aficionados refer to them as Tactics RPGs or Strategy RPGs. You will be forgiven just this once for your ignorance. Do not let it happen again.

It has been a long time I've done any of that emulator stuff. How, where, and how much?

Honestly, it's been a while since I've seen a turn based RPG as a full game without all the ugly microtransactions (for Free).

A series I liked is the "Sonny" series on armor games. I would recomend that. It's short, but its gameplay is good and the story is also good IMO.

If you are willing to spend about $12 I would highly recomend Darkest Dungeon on Steam.

    Edit: What Eco said too.

Freethirtysevenninetynine. It's really easy. Download ISO, download emulator (with BIOS, from torrent), run ISO in emulator.

Freethirtysevenninetynine doesn't pull up anything. :\

Don't tell me you just Google that thinking it was the emulator. I'm going to assume you didn't but still randomly recommend that you use ePSXe v1.9.0 as the emulator.

If you tell me what kind of RPGs you're looking for I am recommend you some.

    ... I... of course I... didn't google it...

Like I said, I loved Tactics RPGs as a kid. Though I wasn't really into the Sonny suggestion, sorry Blade.

If you're wanting Tactics RPGs, you can either stick with Final Fantasy Tactics (can't go wrong there, classic perfection in ever way) or move up to PS2 emulation and try out some Disgaea or other Nippon Ichi games. if that's too complicated, stick with FFT, then try Tactics Ogre, and maybe Front Mission, if you feel like it. PSX is a bit more limited in this genre in the West, but it's still got some classics. The best ones, though, are on the PS2. SNES always has some nices ones.

But, are you sure you want to stick with Tactics RPGs?

Sounds like you're eager to make other suggestions.
