Damnit, just when I catch up in the books, there's a new season and I have to catch up again. Damnit, so tempting to just watch the damn show.

Not sure if April's Fool trolling... or genuine.

Either way I'll just wait until it's on megashare.

Good stuff. I liked Melissandre vs. Davos and Tyrion vs Tywin.

Also, ouch at that guy who had his nipple cut off. :$

    Hidden Content:
We saw a "drakaris" at the House of the Undying. I wonder if we will still see one in Astapor.

Having read the books, I'm surprised that

    Hidden Content:
Selmy immediately revealed himself to Daenerys. Though I am thoroughly excited for the Unsullied arc; I cannot wait to watch her take command of the Unsullied Army.

It's because it wouldn't work on the show thanks to the visual component of adapting the books into a TV show. In the books, the revelation that Arstan Whitebeard is actually Barristan Selmy was a surprise twist for readers. But on television, the audience would immediately know that he's Barristan Selmy.

So, after watching the episode, I have come to the following conclusions:

    Hidden Content:
-Ygritte's a dick (no pun intended)

-The conversation between Mance and Jon was better in the novel

-Barristan is giving Obi-Wan a run for his money (and cutting out the Arstan Whitebeard plot was probably for the best in light of it being a visual medium)

    -Tywin's a dick

    -Tyrion's still a badass

-Just seeing Jeoffrey for the few minutes I did reminded me that he's still a (censored) (censored) and seeing him (spoiler) will be bring me much (censored) gratitude.

-I wish I could believe that Margery is helping the poor out of the goodness of her heart, but...this is Westeros. No-one helps anyone out of the goodness of their heart.

-Gradius has a penchant for understatement for saying "ouch" in regards to the nipple cutting.

-I don't remember the girl assassination attempt in the novel (or if it even happened) and I admit that I've forgotten what a drakaris is (thought that was a synonymn for dragon). Either way, "holy shit" = my reaction to said girl.

-Conclusion has been reached that Westeros is still a grim place to life, people like Jon Snow are the exception rather than the rule, and alongside series 7 of Doctor Who, autumn's looking up as far as TV entertainment goes.
