"...has been busy working on some new ramp concepts so they can be tailored for each mission in the Terran single player campaign."

At least according to Facebook.

We're getting map specific ramps now.

At such rate we'll have Marines with unique armour decals by the time the game is out. :D

Indeed.

Thor in Campaign = OK

Thor in MP = Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

I'd imagine because of how intensive the Beta process will be on units and abilities, it'd be best to actually not change the artwork until it were made certain that they wouldn't change again. Mostly because death animations are a pain to make. And then remake...

But yeah, definitely the units need at-least one more pass before the game's released. Gotta make it last for 10 years, you know?

this is the most boring SC2 news has ever been.

"o wow treez! ZOMG!"

As a Tree and Ramp enthusiast, I highly anticipate the release of any media pertaining to these new ramps.

I hope the Collector's Edition can come with some Tree and Ramp models so I can set up a diorama.

This isn't new ramp 'art' they're talking about, it's now ramp 'concepts', which probably means we'll get some retractable ramps or something.

I'd love to see more destructible stuff, especially bridges.

I'd also like to see switchable stuff, like bridges you can turn on and off.

Agreed. We need the flying vehicles that were seen in the inauguration cinematic. Buggies are fine for Mar Sara or something.

Anyone remember that thread at blizzforums? We really need to get this stuff... Like why the hell isnt this talked about by them? If so many people bring this up constantly, why isnt it something they want to do...? Seems like a slam dunk, absolute good thing to me :/

I'd like to see moving platforms :P

Yes, this definitely. It would change the up the game so much it'd be awesome. Does anyone know if moving platforms and stuff are things that can't be done due to the way the game is hardcoded or is it possible? I have no idea about such stuff. I think it'd be great to have constantly shifting battlefields like your main is here and 10 minutes later it's on the other side of the map.

Also the Carrier. :)

They should also add the Protoss camouflage (or corrosion or whatever it was in SC1) to the Aiur units. Also flying cars.

That said, retractable ramps and destructible doodads (bridges <3) would be very fun. Even just for UMS, because I'm sure someone would complain if such a thing were in a melee map.

Their last status update also says they're working on giving the Void Ray and the Corruptor more defined roles.

At first I've read "defensive roles" and almost thought it worth a separate thread, but luckily thought better of it.

That is extremely disheartening. Both units should be front line offensive powerhouses.

No, they just said "more defined roles". For all we know, they MAY be making them even more offense oriented.

That's strange. I don't know about the Corruptor, but how much more specific can the Void Ray get?

n00bonicPlague
12-28-2009, 09:24 PM
The Corruptor I can understand a bit, but the Void Ray? I thought its workings already gave it a clearly defined role.

MattII
12-29-2009, 02:01 AM
maybe that's what the extra range (up to 7) is about, making it capable of threatening even a reasonably well set up defensive line, rather than being fodder for any bunch of Marines/Hydras/Stalkers.

My first thought as well. It could be relatively minor stat changes though, but I wish they were more specific (Blizzard, not the Void Rays).

You guys need to stop feeling so damned entitled. Be glad you're even getting this trickle during a time when the Blizzard offices are no doubt closed.

KadajSouba

Errr. in fact we have received shit from Blizzard since the beginning. The Official page with incomplete and aged information, graphics and animations. Or the shitty BR's, that look like played by retards, compared to the games that the fans play at the events. 99% of the info we have comes from people assisting to the events and illegaly recording games, or taking note of the stats, or publishing their point of view at blogs.

So that fact that Blizzard has released nothing ain't strange.

Don't get confused. The comunnity is our source of info, not blizzard.

Triceron
12-30-2009, 11:14 PM
So you're saying they shouldn't give any information at all to stop the fans from bitching?

SpikeVorador
01-03-2010, 01:12 AM
well thats the problem... if they dont say anything the people complain about blizzard dont saying anything in months...
and if they say something about... trees and ramps... the people complain about blizzard saying something about... trees and ramps... and anthenas

so... i dont know, maybe they just dont have anything interesting to say

KadajSouba
01-03-2010, 07:40 PM
So you're saying they shouldn't give any information at all to stop the fans from bitching?

Maybe thats one way.

But back to the theme, i was answering the question about why Blizzard havent realeased anything this days, and Bolas said that because they were on holidays. My answer was that there is nothing strange in that, and the Holidays aren't the reason, because holidays or not, we receive almost no info from Blizzard: 3 considerable "Oficcial site" updates, 3 Gameplay videos, in one goddam year.

We should be familiar with this lack of info, because thats the way Blizzard manages the SC2 comunnity.

Thats what i said Triceron, dont put words in my mouth.

Triceron
01-03-2010, 09:02 PM
So in your opinion, what should Blizzard be doing instead?

I can't say much about the Community Managers, because SC2 stats are constantly in flux and there honestly aren't many hard-hitting questions that need to be answered. We know pretty much everything about the game as needed until beta hits. We know how the units work and the basic theorycraft behind their uses. We know quite a bit about singleplayer now, and the types of gameplay we can expect from it. We've even seen some examples of the editor. They've even set up twitter accounts and facebook accounts to provide trivial information.

Other than more gameplay videos and screenshots, which the fans will always want to see, what is there? What we're asking is for more trivial nuggets of information.

Spoilers is what they can release. But I'd rather not see one anymore, even teaser trailers.

I'd like to see though some new units for MP they're playing with and maybe hear them say one or two partial findings regarding their performance.
