The first batch of StarCraft 2 dioramas from DC Unlimited has hit the shelves. And as the collector I am, I decided to go and pick them up.

The first photos before I packed them out of their rather sexy boxes became rather screwy. I need a better camera... But hey here is one not so crappy (yet blurry, sorry) of Raynor while he is still attached to the plastic:
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/3189/raynor1.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/408/raynor1.jpg/)

And here he is without the plastic, fully assembled (The rifle was a bit hard to place in his hand)
http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/6161/raynor2.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/828/raynor2.jpg/)
Parts on Raynor as far as I know are:
A stand
A gun
A Rifle
A Raynor

Now for Zeratul:

And yes, that stick... it goes exacly where you think it goes...

And badabing badabom en taro kaboom:
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7419/zeratul2.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/zeratul2.jpg/)
Parts on Zeratul as far as I know are:
A Head (you can look under his mask)
A robe
Two shoulderpads
An arm with warp blade
A Zeratul body
A stand with a metal pole.

And here they are both standing on my temporary SC2 museum shelf

I guess they look cool but the size of Raynor's hands are quite distracting. They're as big as his head. Either that or Raynor has a tiny head...

Just like in the game...

Guess I might have been in denial before, but I'm really seeing the 'Warcraft-like' exaggerations on these guys now. :)

Raynor's arms are the same width as his legs. Sheesh!

I know that, not that that should be any excuse for it looking strange. All I'm saying is that when you're given time to look at the details of the diorama, it (the fact that if Raynor were to face-palm, his whole face would literally disappear into his own hand) sticks out especially when it shows him with one of his hands right next to his head.

I take it none of you watched the cinematics before or after release.

Long time anime fan: "You know, I just now noticed how their eyes are all disproportionately large, whereas there noses/mouths are all teeny in relation to their faces. It's really quite distracting......."

Good art style and realism are not always the same thing. I for one love the art in StarCraft and can look past some unrealistic proportions. Apparently I'm special in this.

You may be onto something there but as for me I've always been aware of how garish visuals are in works of fiction that are heavy reliant on it. At least I didn't say that it "ruined the whole thing" (nor do I feel that way) or somethings ludicrous like that, I was just making a general observation.

I don't know, maybe if Raynor, as a character, had other more interesting or distinguishing characteristics worth talking about I wouldn't have to nitpick about his hands being ginormous. :p

Nope, just the silent majority.

That's some serious bromance right there. Speaking about Deus ex, it was a bit overhyped.

The story was incredibly linear...the only good thing was that you could do whatever combat style you wanted. I went stealth, so I finished the game without killing anyone except for the bosses. This was pretty good on their part for having solid game design.
But I'm not sure if the game really deserved the 9/10's and etc...

Nice collection you got there though, did you happen to buy the $250 USD Tychus Statue? I sort of regret not buying it, but then again, it's just gonna sit there :|

I tried, twice, buy my bank card was not eligible for shopping outside my country at the time. So no :(. The Tychus statue and the Raynor poker set are two of the things I have tried getting but to no avail. So I fear those two will be a void in my collection, unless I get rich and I am able to get them... somehow...

But I have a couple of other nice things. My most priced possession so far is my Hardcopy Heavens Devil that Jonny Ebbert (Heart of the Swarm Senior Designer) and Frank Pearce (1 of the 3 founders of Blizzard) signed. I also have the original StarCraft collectors special edition box... getting that one signed by Metzen would be awesome.

That sir is the coolest thing you have, and it will produce a huge void on my collection because I was 7 when SC first came out.

I have to admit, that's a really badass Starcraft shelf. I'm kind of jealous.

Its time for Tychus!

Now if you wonder why the place looks different, it is because I moved.

Tychus is the closest to an actual action figure you can get (Kinda sorry I didn't get one or three extra ones to repaint into regular marines)
Here he is next to Kerrigan unpacked:
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/4051/cimg0587.jpg

Since the limit per image per post is 5 and I want to keep this in one post, I'll skip the unpacking progress and just show the awesome. Tychus comes in 2 parts, him, and his rifle (The rifle is made of a different material than Tychus, and appears to be very light and thus fragile... I'm not going to test how fragile). Anyways.
Here is the front, you get an idea how large he is by the keyboard box he is standing on (Another new addition to my collection the Marauder keyboard!) You can move the torso from side to side, with a bit of difficulty:
http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3379/cimg0591t.jpg

Here is the back where you can get an idea of the joints on the leg:
http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/3156/cimg0592h.jpg

Closeup on his face, the visor can be taken up and down as you please:
http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/6808/cimg0590b.jpg

With all the joints of this figure (you can even adjust the position of a group of fingers on his right hand, but not his left for some reason), you can position him almost as you please:

Next up later today: Kerrigan!

And now it is time for Kerrigan!

Here she is, fresh out of the box.
Wings have joints at two of the spikes and on the area where you attach them on her back. So here is a front view... yeah...

Dayum Jimmy, looks like we have some Zerg action
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/4706/tychusbattlekerrigan.jpg

After some contemplation... yes this image can be... taken the wrong way... but I swear, its just a victory pose on top of the body!

Dat carapace... for some reason I like the marine outfit a bit more than Kerrigan, though she is quite nice.

Yes... some 'victory pose' she has there! :D

Come to think of it, now that you've put 'that' thought in my head, the previous picture makes it look like Tychus is 'forcing' Kerrigan at gunpoint to do... whatever is transpiring there ;)... in that last picture.

Well, seems like that she is enjoying a lot in that last picture, judging by her face. :p
