Legacy Weekly #22

Written by SaharaDrac  | Tuesday, 22 December 2009 18:51

Features - Legacy Weekly

A StarCraft II fan's life is hard. We lie on our backs in the proverbial desert, our mouths open, desperately wishing for one life-giving drop of moisture to come our ways, to keep us going for just one...more...step. I have the trickle, my friends, and that trickle is...

The Legacy Weekly

SC:L Summary

If you're into manga, and I know I am, Gradius has written a review of the latest collection of StarCraft manga: Frontline, Volume 4. I actually just picked up the book after reading the review, and it provided literal minutes of bathroom-time entertainment.

SC:L has issued a casting call!  If you want to help contribute to the world's best StarCraft fansite, and be a part of an exciting group during an exciting time, as SC2 comes our way, then take a look and lend your talents! We're looking for e-sports coverage, coders, and web graphics designers. You'll be a lot better off than me, as I actually don't know what StarCraft is, I simply work here as part of an out-of-court settlement with LordofAscension over some misplaced sports memorabilia. =(

Blizz News

Two new Blizzard posters were introduced to the public this week on the official StarCraft II forums, Avarius & Zydaris.  As a welcoming gift, 13,000 posters made threads about Duke Nukem Forever.

Blizzard posted a look at a new 1v1 map, Twisted Peak, on their Facebook and Twitter pages. It looks like a slight homage to the classic StarCraft map Blue Storm, only without tiny gates made of rocks that giant steel tanks and re-animated Protoss killing machines equipped with photon cannons can't manage to squeeze through. If you aren't Blizzard's Facebook and/or Twitter friend yet, then I'm sorry. You'll have to talk to your father when he gets home.

Community News

ArcherofAiur, of our delightful forums, has posted a thread about some ideas for the M.U.L.E. titled "The Twelve Days of Theorycrafing!".  It is garnering a lot of positive attention and has some interesting ideas about freshening up the Terran macro mechanic.  Possibly even a mechanic similar to the one presented could be used to replace the now defunct Proton Charge for the Protoss?

While we're talking about M.U.L.Es, I'd like to use this opportunity to educate you about M.U.L.E. M.U.L.E. is one of the greatest PC/NES games ever made. The M.U.L.E. in StarCraft II is a homage to this wonderful game.  Where else in 1987 could you spend countless hours starving Mektrons, laughing as the clamored for your precious food supplies, as you kept driving the price higher and higher?  What a rush. Where else could you build a space empire built solely off of the pelts of the fearsome and elusive Wumpus? What other game's lead designer had a sex change operation? Only M.U.L.E., man! Welcome, Orange Flapper!

The Legacy Weekly approves: Golden Grahams
